I was back home and of course not enjoying it. My mom was laying down and my brother was playing video games. My phone rang and it was Michael.
"Hey babe. How was the ride home?"
"Boring. Sad." I said laughing.
He laughed. "So what are you doing now?"
"Nothing. I was watching tv but Im not interested."
"I know the feeling. So can I come and get you?"
"YES PLEASE COME!" I said whispering loudly. He laughed and I giggled. "Ill be there in 30 minutes."
"OK." I said. I hung up and began to get ready. I told my mom that I was going out with Michael for awhile and she said it was fine. After 30 minutes Michael was there. I ran to put on my shoes and my mom was talking to Michael.
"Do you want anything while we're out Mama?" he asked.
"Oh honey can you bring me back something to eat? It doesnt matter what you bring." she said. I walked out and she handed him some money. He shook his head and stopped her. "No mama I got it. I'll bring you back something special." he said smiling at her. She smiled back and said he was sweet.
"Are you ready?" he asked me smiling.
"Yes." I walked over to kiss my mom goodbye and told her we would be back in a little while. We walked out the door and I hopped I hopped in the front of his car.
"So where are we going?" I asked excitedly.
"Its a surprise." he said driving off. We were on the highway and I was singing to the music. I glanced over at Michael and he had a calm look on his face. For some reason this made me worry.
"Michael?" I asked.
"Yea babe?"
"Ummmm...nothing." I said looking out the window. I then noticed how he was dressed. He had on a blouse and jeans. He had a little bow tie wrapped around his neck and he looked nervous.
Just then we got off the expressway and headed to the park. I was getting even more nervous because I remembered that I was not dressed for the occasion. All I had on was a little sundress. How could I be so unprepared?
We got out the car and he grabbed my hand. "Come with me." he said. We walked halfway around the track until I said a couple of people standing by my favorite willow tree. "Wait...are we having a party?" I asked. He shook his head no and we were finally standing before our friends and some of Michael's family.
He let go of my hand and he turned towards them. "Thank you all for coming today. I wanted all of you guys to witness this moment because you all are so special to me. I'm sorry it took so long to get here but the doctor said take it easy and right now Im really nervous." he said smiling all cute.
Everyone laughed and he gestured for me to come his way. I walked to him and he grabbed my hands. "I know you dont know why you are here but its ok. I love you Alcyone and this past year has been amazing." he said nervously. Just then he got down on one knee and I gasped. He reached into his pocket and his hand was fiddling around looking for something.
Everyone giggled when he finally pulled out this white box. "I know this is too early and a bit shocking, but I love you and I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. Alcyone...will you marry me?"
Everyone said awww and a tear ran from my cheek. This guy...this guy right here I'd never thought I would encounter. After everything that's happened, from 7th grade to now, who knew Michael and I would be living this moment?
"Michael...." I said. Everyone looked at me and I looked down at him. He was beginning to cry. "YES!" I said yelling to the top of my lungs. He got up and spun me around. After that Michael had a small picnic planned for our guests. We were eating and Michael looked into the sky.
"What are you thinking about?" I asked.
"Im thinking about marrying you and how great our life will be. Our future." he said looking at me. I smiled at looked down. "I cant believe Im engaged." I said. He looked into my eyes and smiled. "I can. I love you so much." he said kissing me.
"I love you too." I said smiling.
