Camouflage.

She went through a whole lot,
Which in order to overcome, she fought.
Even though she had that unique smile,
Which could be seen from a mile,
No one knew she wasn't living,
Just surviving the unfortunate life she was given.

She tried to hide her pain,
By covering her scars with the elixir darker than her sanity,
This ink went further and further around her body for she could not abstain,
Which made others begin to wonder if those markings were a camouflage of her reality.
