Quickpaw leaned forward,  silky whiskers touching the grass as she crawled through the chilly forest. Leaffall is almost at a end, and prey has gotten worst... She flattened her ears, tossing the thought away. She then scooted around a fallen log, balancing herself on her four paws as she navigated through the holly bushes. She slipped under the prickly, fuzzy bush and came to a stop as her tail brushed the grass before her.

She caught a lucky sight of shrew, it's tiny pink paws prodding a peanut as it observed it. The apprentice's eyes turned from dullness, into warm satisfaction. She raised her nose, checking if any scent else stalked her. What a lucky chance for me to impress the clan! She paused as the shrew raised its snout, letting a squeal escape its small throat as it continued observing the peanut.

Finally, Quickpaw launched herself into the air, claws unsheathed

Finally, Quickpaw launched herself into the air, claws unsheathed. She landed on her hind-legs first, setting a flash of pain vibrate through her she stumbled down in a knot of paws. The shrew wailed, clumsily rolling over and making a run for it. Immediately, Quickpaw shot up and dived for the shrew, claws hooking the tip of its pink tail. Shrieking, it fell limp as the apprentice gave a killing blow.

She firmly collected the prey in her jaws, letting her blade-alike fangs sink into its chewy fur then spun around. Her tail up high, she weaved herself past the holly bushes and log again to head to camp, sweet camp.
