The next few months went the same as the first day of school. Percy was still not an honor roll student, but he was doing a lot better in this school than his others. He scored B's and C's instead of his usual D's and F's. Percy thought his grades would plummet since he now had to handle Captain America and being a demigod, but having Annabeth to help him in a demigod-friendly learning style really helped. He was even taking a Marine Biology class that he had an A in. Tracy and her friends (and a few other people) kept hitting on him, even though he was engaged to Annabeth. But  overall, everything was doing well in the academic department.

His demigod life was also pretty relaxed. It had been a few months since the Giant War and no evil people were bothering him. Well, there was Apollo's issue with his trials, but that wasn't Percy's problem. For once, he could safely ignore that. The Romans and Greeks were getting along well. There was still a little tension sometimes, like when Percy and Jason happened to be leading opposing teams for Capture the Flag. But generally, everyone was collaborating. Jason was build his temples across the camps and Percy went to help train Demigods at both camps when he had free time. It was actually really flattering the number of people who turned up to sword lessons when Percy taught them. He'd be teaching Aphrodite and Hermes cabins some moves and then discover that the Athena cabin and Dionysus cabin had snuck in too.

Finally was his Avengers life. Percy was starting to have a hard time. The missions that Director Fury sent them on weren't hard, but Percy often had to mess up in places where he could've used his powers. One time they were apprehending a group by a lake, but were outnumbered so bad they had to withdraw. They wouldn't have had to if Percy could use his powers, but he knew the Avengers would be suspicious if he could make a hurricane all of a sudden. That wasn't exactly in the supersoldier package. Percy really longed to tell the Avengers the truth: he wasn't the original Captain America, although he knew who was, and he wasn't even human. He longed to fight with the Avengers, just as Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon. And that was just not something he could do.

Percy had told the gods that the Avengers wouldn't be a threat to them, but they still wanted Percy to be a part of the superhero team. Percy guessed they still felt uncomfortable, especially since there was a Norse god.

Percy was walking through the halls in his way to lunch, thinking about all this and talking with Annabeth (over the phone) about topic 1 and 2 (school and camp) when he saw something that caught his eye. A flyer.

At this point, it was December, and that's when Midtown's swim team started. He and Annabeth were walking down the hallway on the way to lunch when a kid zipped by and pasted the flyer for swim team try outs on the wall.

Percy squinted his eyes at it. Would it be cheating if he signed up? Percy knew he was a good swimmer. If he didn't use his powers, couldn't he try out? There was the matter of the scars all over his back and chest, but he could always wear a swim shirt. Well, actually that would be weird and pose a lot of questions. It would also slow him down. But he could always just say he was caught in an accident. New York was weird. Hit by a car? Maybe. He told Annabeth about the swim team.

"Percy," she chided.

He sighed. "Would it be cheating though if I didn't use my powers?"

She thought about it. "Well, I guess not. But your scars..."

Percy sought for an answer. "I can make something up. Please? What do you think?"

Annabeth groaned. "Ugh, fine."

Percy beamed. He took out a pen that want Riptide and put his name up on the list.
