A cool breeze drifted in from the sea, trying to shake a girl with raven-black hair and a purple tail from her thoughts. It failed, she wanting to hold on to them for as long as possible.

In her mind, wedding bells tolled and organ music swelled. People fell silent one by one as she, glorious in her wedding dress, walked between the aisles. Then, she climbed up the stairs and was held in an embrace by her love: Aaron. He'd be dressed in a beautiful black suit— perfect for him and his fluffy black ears.
They'd say their vows, kiss, and have a wonderful day together. In the future, they'd have a family, and her mother would be jealous with pride.

The sea splashed up onto the low pier and wet her feet in another attempt to beckon her. She didn't mind the water very much, but a small sense of uneasiness settled in her brain.

"Aph!" A voice called out to her. Rough, with a certain familiarity to it.

Aphmau turned, spying a silhouette at the beginning of the pier. It came to her, revealing itself to be Aaron. She grinned, falling back into his arms. Aph's unease melted away as her fiancé held her in a tight embrace.

"Aaron!" She nestled deeper into his arms, enjoying the moment. They stood like that for a moment, watching as the sea bobbled and the faraway boats began to drift out of sight.
Neither of them wanted to break the silence that held them, each savoring the moment. But, like all things, it couldn't last forever, causing Aaron to be the one to break it.

"So what were you doing out here, over the water?" Aph looked up at Aaron. "Thinking about our wedding."
Their rings shone in the light, once again reminding them of that day.
It'd been a dream come true.

It is a dream come true, Aphmau thought.
A perfect dream.

They elapsed back into silence.
"Should we get back to everyone?" Aaron watched as his fiancé groaned. "So soon? We've only been here for a little while."

"I heard they're having a party of some sorts."

Aph burst up, remembering that she'd already told her friends about getting married. "What are we waiting for? Let's go!" She ran off, leaving Aaron behind. He chuckled, racing off behind her.

They chased through parks and streets, weaving out and around booths and other pedestrians. They weren't far from the boat now. Aph sharply rounded a corner into an alleyway, a thump sounding seconds after she did.
Aaron picked up speed.
He tripped going around and crashed to the ground. He grunted, turning his head to see what he'd tripped on.

His mouth opened. Closed.
Aphmau lay sprawled on the ground, no sign of being conscious evident. He twisted around to pick her up.

"Well done, Aaron."
A man stepped forwards. Green eyes stared, white hair neatly combed back. He wore a dark blue shirt and jeans, both of which were also neatly worn. Even his smile was neatly made, just curling up at the corners in an almost amused look.

A little odd, since he was usually never this organized, but Aaron brushed past it for now.

"Terry!" Aaron smiled. Terry was the person who helped him regain his strength after the incident at the lodge. If anyone could help him, Terry could.
However, he seemed to have other plans. His face flipped into a sadistic grin. Aaron stopped smiling.

"Hey, Terry. Is everything alright?"

Terry laughed in response, a cold, menacing thing that bubbled up through him. "I am, but you aren't."

What's that supposed to mean? Aaron thought. His werewolf ears pricked as if responding. He turned to face whatever new threat awaited, ears flattening in a defensive instinct, just before a cold metal object met his head.

The world went black.

Garroth picked up the girl, a worried expression written clearly on his face. Lucinda's mirrored his.

Minutes ago, they'd been walking off of the boat to wait for Aphmau and Aaron to get back.
Now they were holding an unconscious Aphmau in their arms, Aaron nowhere to be found. They looked at each other, a silent thought passing between them:
