Each passing year,
Another candle will be added to the
Vanilla, Chocolate or even Rainbow-flavoured cake
A time where you celebrate
With your friends and loved ones
Being showered with blessings and wishes
Surrounded with gifts, joy and laughter
Have you ever stopped to wonder
About those on the other side of
The Pacific Ocean?
On this very day,
They may not have new clothes to wear,
A home-cooked meal to look forward to
Gifts or presents to unwrap
On the day that marks their existence,
They may not even have a roof under their head
To give them comfort of warmth
They might be running for their lives
From bombs and warzones
Never take what you have for granted
Never take those around you for granted
You have a wonderful life
You're extremely fortunate.
