Chapter 9

I found that on Twitter the other day lmao.
(Pia's POV)

"You lose"

I gave a wide smile as Leah pouted.
"I don't find that necessarily fair,my friend. Though, smart move." The pinkness on her cheeks spread out through the rest of her face.
"Yes. I've found it helpful. I might have to try it again sometime and see if it has the same impact as it did just now." She scrunched her nose as if something smelled bad.
"Screw you."
I let out a short, squeaky laugh and stood up.
"Well, I believe we must get going. It's getting late." I looked out of the toy playhouse up at the sky, which now had stars spread out across its spacious area like spilled salt. Leah sighed and stood up with a quick, 'Oh, Alright' and shoved her hands into her pockets.

We found trying to get out of that small playhouse difficult with us being teens now, but thanks to our luck we'd eventually gotten out. I had taken some notice of Leah's jacket and asked her about it.
"My aunt bought it for me on my first day of school where we used to live. She said she didn't want any of the rich city kids making fun of me. You see, my family isn't really one you'd find with loads of money hanging around in their banking account waiting to be wasted."
Leah talked very proudly of her Aunt.
"She means the world to me, and it would be most devastating as anything terrible were to happen to her."  "What about your parents?"
She'd told me about how she only had her Mom and her Aunt left, with her Aunt being the one who was closer to Leah than her own mother, and how her Dad had died of suicide when she was 11 years of age. And in that moment all I could feel was pure sympathy towards her. I couldn't relate, I had both of my parents, a sibling, and healthy/rich sides of the family. I'd told her I was sorry to hear all of that, but she seemed thankful with what she had right now, which is a trait I wish I could show present more often.

  Leah had animatedly refused my offer to walk her home, so I gave in and let her walk herself. I honestly should've asked HER to walk ME home. But oh diddely dee look at me, walking home at 10pm with a pocket knife as my only source of protection.
  I hate the dark, but I love the night. Does that make sense? There's so many things in the dark, creepy crawlies, people, shadows, more.. People. Honestly! I have no clue how they put up with not being able to see their own five or more or less fingers. But the night is just, more silent, and more soft.

  I sprinted into my driveway and up onto the front porch into the house. I bent down once the door closed behind me and panted, with my hands on my knees.

  "Ma! Pa! Pia's homee~" My little brother sat on the couch in his pj's, playing what I'd assume to be that.. fortnight thing. I don't have the slightest idea why it's so popular nowadays but the people like what they like.
  "Braxton..! Why the heck...are you..still up?!" I said between breaths.
  "Ma and Pa said to keep an eye out for you. They went to go talk about work again I think." He shrugged.  I rolled my eyes and hung my jacket and scarf on the coat hanger, and put the pocket knife in my shoe.
  "Hello, dear." My mom walked into the room and smiled.
  "How'd the studying with Leah go?" She began taking some tea bag options out for me to choose from.
  "I'm fine thanks. Yeah, it went well."  She put the teabags away.
  "That's good, hun." She stood in front of me and poked at my house slippers with her foot.  "Forgot these." I looked at them and jumped a bit.
"Oh yes, thank you." I slid them on and looked back at her.
  "Come on give me details."  She fixed her sweater to cover more of her chest and she crossed her arms.
  "Details, huh? Well.." I thought for a moment.
  "Really I just walked to the café and sat in a small booth, she came and joined me about 15 minutes later. We talked about school, I guess, and we challenged each other to see who could say the correct answer to the most flash cards."
  "Well good I'm glad you actually studied this time."
  "..Thanks?" She patted my right shoulder and told me I should go get some rest. Rest? I don't know about rest, it's the weekend, I'm going to stay up all night reading doujinshi's and listening to K-pop.

I stood under the shower , the water beating down my back and flowing from the ends of my hair. I touched my lips.
  Am I really lesbian..? Wait no, I'm not. I'm straight. But this girl is lesbian. And I kissed her. So if I'm straight, that would mean, I'm lesbian for her right? Not just any girl. Her.
I sighed and shut off the shower head and dried off.

  I lie in my bed listening to an audiobook I found online when my phone started buzzing.
  I quickly sat up and immediately pressed answer once I saw who the caller was.
  "Leah! What is it? What's wrong, is everything okay?!" I could hear her breathing heavily and sniffing every now and then.
  "Pia please, it's my Aunt. She.. she's had a heart attack I don't know if she's going to be ok. My moms taking her to the hospital now."
  "Leah, calm down. I'll be over as soon as possible, what is your address?"  She told me her address, in which I wrote down on a piece of paper and ran downstairs, again doing the routine of telling my parents where I'm off to, and yanking my winter clothes on.
  "I'll stay here on the phone with you on my way there Alright?"  She whispered an 'ok' and I put her on speaker as I jumped into the car and began following the instructions of the address.

  "I'm here for you."

  Hello to you all. I hope your eating properly and taking well care of your self.
 
  I personally thought this chapter was a bit more well written than the rest, but this is the one I plan on making it a bit more, drama-ish from here. I'm sorry. Lolol but everything will be okie don't worry.

Pia got that girl pretty quick didn't she? It's been three or something years and I'm still friend zoned lmao.
