"Doubt it, Garnet would've seen her coming and there's no way she would've gotten pass Pearl-" I stopped when Steven spoke up. Confirming my gut feeling.

"Peridot kind of looks like... Pearl?" Steven frowned with his eyes wide.

"What? Lemme see!" Amethyst pushes Steven away from his telescope and sees for herself. "Oh no." Amethyst and I both said.

All three of us sat in front of Steven's TV, staring at the black screen. I sat on Steven's bed while the both of them sat on the floor in front of me.

"Why would Pearl rebuild the Hub? Maybe she's trying to study how it works?" Steven listed, trying to find a reasonable reason on why she was doing this.

"No, I don't think that's it." Amethyst said, bring her knees to her chest.

"Maybe she's trying to get us more channels?" Steven said, turning on the TV, it continues to glitch like before. Pearl then walks in behind us, I tensed up and so did Amethyst and Steven.

"Oh, this is no good!" Pearl gasped and the fake surprise in her voice made my stomach drop. How could she be doing this? And to Garnet no less.

"What's wrong?" Steven asked, his voice nervous and his body language awkward.

"It's Peridot, she must've fixed the Communication Hub." Pearl stated, Garnet walks in and the three of us shared a worried glance with each other. "Garnet, it's the Hub again." Pearl shouted from Steven's bed.

"She's evading my future vision. No matter how many times I try. I can't see us finding Peridot." Garnet smacks her lips. "Come on, team."

Pearl approaches the repaired Hub, her arms crossing over her chest.

"I can't believe Peridot is giving us so much trouble! But it hardly matters, right Garnet? We can disable this tower as many times as we need to, together!" Pearl smiled, but the thing was nerve wracking and my anger was filling my chest.

"I know what she's doing." Amethyst said, I nodded and Steven looked at us confused.

"You do?" He asked. Garnet and Pearl were about to fuse again until Amethyst interrupted them.

"Stop!" She shouted, causing them both to freeze and look at her.

"I-Is something the matter, Amethyst?" Pearl asked, not expecting her out burst.

"You- you shouldn't..." Amethyst began but looked down at her feet, clenching her hands closed to her side.

"Pearl..." Steven looked away. "We saw you."

"What?" Pearl asked, her voice shaking.

"Tell Garnet, or I will." I spoke, looking up from the ground to only send a cold glare to the white gem. Her eyes widened as Garnet continued to look at us.

"I don't understand." Garnet said, her voice was even but I could hear the worry and confusion behind it. Pearl looks from us to Garnet, her eyes widened in fear.

"I'm sorry... I-It's just... so much fun being Sardonyx with you." Pearl came clean. Garnet froze and drops her in shock.

"That's why I couldn't see us finding Peridot." Garnet said, pressing her fingers to her forehead.

"Wait! Let me explain!" Pearl said, trying to stand back up on her feet. Steven took a step forward, but I held him back and shook my head at him when he looked up at me. Telling him not to get involved.

"You've been fixing the Hub!" Garnet walked towards Pearl intimidatingly, who backs away in fear.

"It really was Peridot! T-The first time..." Pearl tried explaining.

"You tricked me!" Garnet shouted.

"No!No, no, no, no! We just needed a reason to fuse! I just wanted to share a few more victories with you!" Pearl said, I scoffed. Pearl flinched and glanced at me, but my glare didn't waver.

"Those weren't victories!" Garnet shouted.

"Wait, Garnet!" Amethyst rushed in, standing in between Garnet and Pearl. "You know, we're so much weaker than you! Fusing with you is like our one chance to feel... stronger!" Amethyst said, trying to soften or give reason for the betrayal.

"Don't defend her! Peridot is out there somewhere and Pearl's been distracting us with... NOTHING!" Garnet shouted, Steven and I could only watch the commotion. He didn't know what to do and I knew this wasn't a fight I needed to be in.

"Garnet..." Pearl whispered, but stopped when the fusion shouted at her.

"That's enough! Amethyst, fuse with me!" Garnet said, clenching her fists.

"But-" Amethyst stopped when she heard Garnet's next words.

"Let's just get this over with." She said under her breath. Garnet and Amethyst proceed to fuse Sugilite bitterly. Sugilite winds up her fists and punches the bottom pillars at great force. The Hub then comes crashing down, enveloping the place in dust clouds. The dust clouds roll in on us, as Pearl continues staring at the destruction, mortified.

Returning home Steven, Amethyst, and I watched the Crying Breakfast Friends on TV. Crying Pear begging for forgiveness and Sad Spoon forgiving her easily. Hearing the front door open we see Pearl walk inside and Garnet warping into the house at the same time. Both walking by each other not making eye contact or saying a word.

"Man, it sure would be nice if things worked out the way they do in cartoons." Amethyst sighed.

"Yeah, it would." Steven sighed as he turned off the TV.

I stood up from Steven's bed and walked to the front door. I stopped, however, when Pearl called my name.

"(Y/n)..." Pearl called, my hand froze on the door handle, but I didn't turn to face her. If I did I knew I wouldn't hold back and fighting in front of Steven was something I didn't want to do. "I'm sorry." She said, I wanted to roll my eyes and yell at her, but I said nothing and walked out of the house.

With all the moments she told me stories of how fusion was such an intimate thing to do. A moment of two becoming one, like when two humans make love- and she just goes and does it. What was worse was that she got it by tricking Garnet and abusing her trust. I see Garnet standing on the beach and looking out into the ocean. I wanted to see if she was okay, but I knew she needed time to think with herself.

Walking away, I let her have time with herself. Hoping Pearl learned from this and hoping Garnet doesn't hold her emotions back. It wouldn't be good for anyone.
