"Are you gonna smash stuff with your war hammer?" Steven asked. I chuckled and spoke up before Sardonyx could.
"'Smash' isn't the word to describe what Sardonyx does, Steven." I smiled, the giant woman smiled and proudly watched as she walked to the pillar tower. "The proper words to use to describe yours truly are..." I looked over to watch her hit a column of the Hub, sliding it out of the structure, like a giant jenga tower. "Specific. Intelligent- Accurate... and Faultless." I smiled as she broke down the tower and the bright beam of light faded away. She walks back over to us and pats me on my head.
"Now, just remember everybody. If you ever need of the lovely Sardonyx, let Pearl and Garnet know, I'll be there in a flash." She glows bright and Pearl and Garnet return to us, both of them breaking out into a fit of giggles. Garnet spun Pearl around in her arms.
"You guys were amazing!" Steven cheered.
"We were?" Pearl lushed. "Oh, well that's good."
"We were awesome!" Garnet smiled as she raised both fists in the air. I clapped and frowned as I watched Amethyst crouching down- seemingly disappointed. I walked over and crouched down next to her. I gently placed my hand on top of her head.
"You okay?" I asked, she tightened her arms around her knees, not saying anything. But I knew she was hurting.
"... You know Garnet didn't mean anything bad behind her words, right?" I said, trying to make her feel better. Amethyst only shrugged. "I know it's hard seeing... them happy without you. Shit, I've been there." I smiled sadly. Amethyst looked up at me with her brows furrowed.
"Really? When?" She asked. I laughed but it held no joy behind it, it was dry and bitter when I think back on that moment.
"When Steven was born... I was happy- believe me I was, but all of you guys were focused on him and only him for a long time. I felt like that little girl lost on the beach all over again." I told her, thinking back to when dad would forget me at Sourcreams' mom's house. Or when I would go days without seeing any of the gems because they were with baby Steven.
"... oh." Amethyst said, remembering the time she found little (Y/n) crying because she was lonely.
"Don't think about it too much, they're just hyped up on fusioning again. It'll pass." I smiled at her. She returns the smile and we head back home. We feed Lion good that night.
"(Y/n)! Amethyst! You guys are missing out on a great episode." Steven shouted as we walked into the kitchen from Amethyst's room. We began hanging out more with each other after our little talk, since we understood each other.
"Not really." Garnet told us as she and Steven, who was sitting on her lap, both watched the Crying Breakfast Foods.
"I'm good." Amethyst said, reaching into the fridge and grabbed two soda cans. Tossing me one, I caught it and cracked it open. Now with my new abilities I noticed I didn't need food or water as much as I did before. I still needed to get my energy from somewhere but now an apple could last me a few days. It was strange.
Just as Steven said he would record it for later the TV started glitching and rumbling again.
"It's the signal again!" Steven shouted.
"Peridot again?" I said, confused. Pearl walks in through the front door. "Pearl! The signal's back."
"Again?" Pearl frowned. Garnet nodded and walked down the wooden staircase from Steven's bed.
"We need to go back out there." Garnet announced.
"Right, Steven, where's Lion? Amethyst, got your head out of the fridge!" Pearl said as we all waited for Lion.
