CLOSE UP - FIRE.
The camera moves away to show a big bonfire. In the center of it, a blond girl (APRIL CARTER, 18) is tied up. She begs.
APRIL
(begging)
Please, don't do this.
A man (MADDOX HAWTHORNE, 40) looks at the fire which is almost touching the girl.
APRIL (CONT'D)
Don't do it.
MADDOX
You are a witch and your fate is be burnt at stake. All witches deserve to be burnt at stake.
The girl panics.
APRIL
Please...
Her begs are useless. The fire touches her feet and little by little it consumes all her body. Her screams could horrify any one, but Maddox. He smiles as he watches the scene.
MADDOX
One witch less.
He holds a little black notebook. He opens it.
CLOSE UP - PAGE.
In the page is a list of female names. Some are scratched, some are not. He scratches one more:
