~Rebels Point of view~
There is a frantic knock on the door the next morning. My head slowly acknowledges where I am and what's going on. I'm covered in a ton of blankets on and my pillow is in fact alive and awake by the time the second knock shakes the door.
I slowly sit up as Ryder gets up from besides me on the couch. He rubs his eyes and cracks the front door open just enough to look outside.
"There you are," A small woman barges in and singels in on me. Her short gray hair is neatly styled in a bob and she's dressed to a tee.
I self consciously try my best to straighten out my appearance, but it seems a lost cause. I'm sticky with cold sweat and feel like I'm run over by a truck. I stand up to the best of my ability and great her with a wobbly smile.
"Hello dear." The woman says as her smile brightens.
"Oh let me get a good look at you," the woman takes my shoulders and inspects me from head to toe, "Well aren't you a sight for the sore eye!" She endearingly tucks my hair behind my ear before pinching my cheeks.
"Grandma, be gentle with her." Ryder intervenes and guides her away from me. He says something to her in a whispered voice. His grandmother seems to complain for a little but disappears into the kitchen after giving a little wave.
"I should have known she would be here first thing when I told her we would be home." Ryder murmurs apologetically.
"How are you feeling?"
"Great." I say with the memory of our kiss still fresh in my mind.
But that is clearly not what Ryder was referring to as he holds the back of his hand against my forehead. "It seems your fever has gotten worse."
"Ah yes, that. No then I'm less than great." I confess. "I think hallucinations have take hold because I could have sworn I just met your grandmother in this state and that just can't be true."
"I think you look great." He says but the laugh in his eyes tell another thing entirely. "Let's freshen up a little before we face her again."
Ryder takes my hand and leads me up the stairs. After our kiss last night he was very much not concerned about that but more about my mysterious fever. He gave me all the blankets he could find and watched my every breath like it could be my last. We eventually both fell asleep on the couch.
Ryder shows me to the bathroom where I do my best to tame my hair before he returns with some of clean clothes. None of which fit me properly but at least they're not sweat through. I need to find Grey and demand my clothes back as soon as possible.
Ryders grandmother has placed a plethora of breakfast options on the kitchen table by the time we're back downstairs. He's just taken one of the pastries his grandmother brought before his phone start ringing. He excuses himself and leaves us.
"I feel like I do need to apologize for my intrusion this morning. When Ryder texted me 'we'll be home soon, don't scare her' I could not just not come by." She explains as she pulls out a chair for me to sit at the table. "Oh dear you must know how excited we have all been to have you here with us."
"Where are my manners I'm Meredith but you can call me grandma if you'd like." She says it with such sincerity that it makes my heart warm.
"It's lovely to meet you."
The small woman moves around the kitchen with ease as she makes what look like pancakes. "You look like you can use something to eat, dear."
As lovely as everything looks, I can't get myself to take a bite. "I'm afraid I'm not really hungry, sorry."
"That's okay, but would you at least accept this." She rummages through her shopping bag and pulls out a small green apple. That is just about the only thing I could eat right now without upturning my stomach.
I take the apple from her and take a bite. Meredith looks satisfied that I'm eating and starts telling me about the pack. From different members to the town and plans for renovations. My head is spinning by the time Ryder returns.
He sits down next to me after filling a plate with food. "I have to take care of a couple of things but I can ask Adam to take you to the sea if you would like to go right away."
"That would be great." I smile at him and he smiles back. He looks at me in a way I have never been looked at before and it makes me feel like I have never felt before.
As he gets up to contact Adam he places a kiss on my forehead and it warms me in a way that drowns my fever.

Adam came with the gift of my suitcase which he got from Grey. After I got changed once more I said my goodbyes to Meredith and Ryder. He would not let me leave without at least another warm sweater.
"We should be there in a little while." Adam encourages as we track through the woods. "The beaches lay just outside the pack territory."
I'm tired and out of breath but the thought of the waves helps me push forward.
Adam leads the way up hill until we're on a cliff side overlooking the outstretched water beneath.
"Is this a safe jump?" I ask him as I look over the ends. The waves crash on the rock at the foot of the cliff making it almost impossible to see what's at the bottom.
"I wouldn't worry too much about it." A low voice says from behind me. It sounds so unlike Adam that it startles me. I turn away from the cliff and see that we're no longer alone.
I recognize the man next to Adam by sense alone. I remember his poisonous eyes from my dreams and his sceptic smile from the rooftop in Madrid. "Ah, then you must be Ray."
"Very perceptive of you." The man says. He approaches me with slow but confident steps.
I see the drop of the cliff in the corner of my eye. I take an unsteady step backwards.
"There is no running from here." He speaks calmly and holds up his arms as if he's approaching a scared animal. "Just come with me and everything will be alright."
Even through my fevered vision I see his lie clear as day. He reaches for me in the little space between us. I pull away and feel my feet slip on the edge of the cliff.
The fall feels like it lasts a lifetime. I hear someone scream my name. Then I hear everyone scream my name. From my father telling me to run to Ryder saying he'll find me and Greg telling me she'll keep me safe.
But it's all over as soon as I hit the water. The waves crash over my head and everything goes black.
Ta-da-da-da!😏
