{57} STAR LORD

You were sitting in your usual spot at the bar on Xandar with the guardians celebrating a victory against yet another monster trying to destroy a planet. You were sipping on your alcohol of choice when you felt a presence in the open seat next to you. You turned your head to see Peter sitting next to you with his own drink in hand.

"You should be celebrating with the rest of us, not sitting here by yourself Y/N." Peter nudged. "I am celebrating. Just in my own special way." You nodded to the drink. "I mean having some real fun. If I could get Gamora to lose up, you should be having the time of your life."

You turned around in your seat and sure enough Rocket, Groot, and Drax all drunk and laughing. Gamora standing close by with a drink in hand, looking slightly tipsy, with a smile on her face. Even Mantis was smiling and having a good time by just watching everyone. She didn't understand how alcohol worked, her innocence wouldn't allow it.

"I'm just too tired and the music isn't really working for me tonight." You said looking at him and then glancing back down at your drink. "I can change that." He smirked and started to get up. "No, no, no, no, Peter." You protested but it was too late, he was already reaching the DJ booth.

"Oh god." You rubbed your head and sat back down in your seat. The sudden tune of "Come and get your love" by Redbone sounded in your ears. You dropped your head with a smile on your face knowing that was the song you and Peter danced to all the time.

Foot steps had gotten closer and the figure stood next to you. Peter extended his hand, "may I have this dance Y/N?" You looked into his eyes. "You know I can't resist Redbone." You groaned and took his hand as he dragged you to the dance floor.

The xandarians opened up the middle of the dance floor for the heroes. Peter twirled you around as you spun in front of him. A laugh came out of you and a smile crept on Peter's face. You danced out of his grasp and the both of you danced individually, but close, on the dance floor. Peter did a funny hip movement along to beat and you did some of your own moves to the harmonies.

After a few songs from Peter's tape lands on the song, "Fooled around and fell in love" by Elvin Bishop. You stopped in tracks when the song meet your ears. Your back was turned to Peter as you faced the other guardians from the now empty dance floor. Gamora nodded at you and mouthing a "go on". Mantis held a smile and a thumbs up. Rocket, Groot, and Drax were too drunk to process anything.

You felt a hand wrap around yours as another was placed on your hip. "Dance with me." Peter said into your ear. The voice sent chills down your whole body with a small smile forming on your lips. "You know I can't say no." You sighed and turned to him.

The close proximity between the both of you made your heart rate increase. Peter moved both hands around your waist, practically hugging you. You had your arms around his neck with your head rested on his chest.

The two of you swayed in peace just enjoying the calmness from the music and being in each other's presence. You moved your head up to look at Peter's face. You were looking intently before kissing his cheek and placing your head back comfortably to where it was. "Thank you." You whispered.

"For what?" He asked gently.

"For tonight."

He smiled at your response, "anything for my girl."

He tightened his grip around you, making sure to not let you go as the both of you danced the night away in the middle of the dance floor.

hey guys it's been a HOT minute since I last updated... they really weren't kidding when they said junior year was the hardest year.

Oh and in this story GROOT IS ADULT GROOT. I got inspired by a scene from the Guardians of the Galaxy TellTale video game.

But now that I'm on break and things have calmed down a bit for me, I got back from a trip to San Francisco, and I got some feels for writing again. I'll probably mainly update whenever I just find time or I get an ideal for something.
