"Thanks for waiting! My name is Kuryu. You are Mr. Maou correct?"
"Yes sir, that's me,"
"And you'd like to return..." He flips one of his papers over, "A fire-extinguisher, futon set, and a water filter?"
Aiko raised a brow at the man's knowledge.
'Did they only hit up the guys' place yesterday? How did they know his name or even what they bought?!'
"Right, yeah. That stuff," Aiko glanced over and could read the suspicion all over Maou's face.
"Well," the man sat down across from the pair on the opposite couch, "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm afraid we generally don't accept returns."
"...What?" Both Maou and Aiko said at the same time.
"When we installed the water filter, we ran it once to test it out. I'm afraid we can't call that 'unused',"
"Whoa, hang on a sec! It was just once!"
"Yes, but you were witness to all of our operations. It's all part of our terms and conditions," He slid a piece of paper across the table towards the pair.
"I don't remember seeing this yesterday..."
"We did hand it to you, sir. Surely you couldn't have lost it in a single day." Maou handed the piece of paper over to Aiko to look over.
"I'm afraid we can't accept the fire-extinguisher either."
"Wha-?!"
The man then went into some long conversation about the laws of building safety, but Aiko wasn't paying any attention. She just finished reading the paper and glanced over to see Maou bearing his teeth. Clearly very agitated.
"...I'm afraid five futons wouldn't be a full set. We cannot accept those back unless it's a set of seven."
"Are you seriously gonna pull that act?" Aiko finally spoke to the man.
"What do you mean ma'am? He agreed to this entire transaction as our customer. We even have the statement right here. And our goods weren't defective at all-"
"That wasn't an agreement, that was a ripoff," she interrupted him.
"What idiot would buy feather bed futons in the summer anyway? Without sheets even?" Maou continued.
'To be fair, it is the end of summer...'
The man's face darkened.
"Sir. Ma'am. That idiot was living at your place."
Aiko clenched her fists and glared at the man across from her.
"It was your side that agreed to the purchase. If someone is stupid enough to buy these things, that's their problem. I don't see why you're complaining about it now."
"You bastard! Don't you dare call him stupid!" Aiko was fuming, and now standing. The anger surged in her the moment he called her love something negative.
Maou's hand was felt on her wrist. She looked down at him and he gave her a look that said 'chill'.
"Look we have a signed receipt, contract, and terms of service. If you want to take us to court, go right ahead. With all this documentation, we'd win handily, you realize." The man pushes up his glasses back on the bridge of his nose.
"After that we can sue you for filing a fraudulent complaint...Now, if we have an understanding, may I be excused? I certainly don't mind calling the police if I have to-"
"Go ahead! Call 'em if you want." All three heads whipped in the direction of the surprise female voice.
"I'd be more than happy to see 'em here!"
"Um, can I ask who you are?" The business man stands from his seated position.
"Me? I'm the defender of justice!"
Aiko couldn't help let a smile slip onto her face.
'Emi!'
