Chapter 4: What Have I Done?

(Y/N): Maybe it's somewhere else in the house? Yeah! It has to be.

He then quietly sneaks out of the room, not wanting to scare/wake up Pearl and Marina.

He watches every step, to not make noise and to make sure he doesn't step on his phone.

One step he takes makes a creak and it just starts echoing through the house [not that loud].

He winces at the noise. Then, after a couple of seconds, continues to quietly going around the house.

He stops when he hears a noise echoing through the house. It was like a humming noise. What could that be? It's not a person. Is it-

(Y/N): *Gasp* My phone!

He quickly throws his hands over his mouth.

He then starts making his way through the mansion, until he hears the humming louder and louder.

Finally, he hears it in the room he entered.

(Y/N): Oooof course.

It was in the kitchen.

He picks up the phone, which was on the floor by the fridge.

As he picks up the phone, he goes to put it back in his pocket, only for it to start vibrating again. He checks his phone.

(Y/N): (24 missed calls and 78 new messages?) Who's been trying to contact me? Two? Who's "Two"?

Just then, "Two" starts calling again. (Y/N) answers the phone.

(Y/N): Hello? *He says trying to not sound nervous*

???: WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!

(Y/N): Marie?

Marie: WHO DO YOU THINK?!

(Y/N) has to hold the phone away from his ear a bit, in order to not hurt his ear drums.

(Y/N): Mari- Marie. Marie. Calm do-

Marie: DO NOT TELL ME TO CALM DOWN! I HAVE BEEN WAITING HERE ALL DAY! WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?!

(Y/N): Okay, I can explain.

Marie: Pssh, YOU BETTER!

(Y/N): Okay, so after I left yesterday, I kind of passed out in the center of Inkopolis Square, and some people saw me and brought me to their house to make sure I was alright, and I've been here all day... I FORGOT, okay?

Marie: You forgot. Yo- YOU FORGOT?! OOoooh, I KNOW you didn't just say you FORGOT!

(Y/N): I don't know what to say! I'm sorry!

Marie: Yeah, you BETTER be!... Making a lady wait all day with NOTHING to do.

(Y/N): Marie. I just... I just.

Marie: Did you also forget that this job you have to do is UNIMAGINABLY IMPORTANT! I NEED your help... It's just me now! Callie's gone! Cap and 3 are GOD knows where! I just... I thought when I found you, I'd have someone I'd be able to rely on... *sigh* Whatever. Just... Just show up tomorrow.

Marie hangs up the phone. 

(Y/N): Marie? Marie?!... Dammit!

He slams his fist onto the kitchen counter.

(Y/N): *Rubs his face with his hands* Ugh... What have I done?

Just then, (Y/N) is blinded by a bright light.

He puts his hand up to block the sudden beacon of light.

(Y/N): Ack!

The light then disappears.

(Y/N) then puts his arm down. He squints trying to see where the light just was, but his eyes are still adjusting.

Marina: (Y/N)? A-are you okay?

(Y/N): Oh! Marina.

(Y/N) goes back to rubbing his face with his hands, and resting his elbows on the counter.

(Y/N): Yeah!... Yeah. Everything's just peachy.

Marina: Who was that?

(Y/N) turns and looks at Marina. He sees she's wearing a tank top that matches the color of her ink, a pair of pajama bottoms, and a pair of slippers.

(Y/N) looks into Marina's eyes.

(Y/N): *Sighs and looks down* A friend.

Marina: What happened?

(Y/N): I messed up. Really bad.

Marina: What could you have done that was so bad?

(Y/N): I don't want to get into it...I feel awful.

Marina: It's fine... You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to.

(Y/N): Thanks... and sorry... for waking you up.

Marina: No! It's fine. Really. I was just worried you were raiding the fridge again.

(Y/N) laughs a bit.

(Y/N): Now that you mention it-

Marina: No... That's the stress talking.

(Y/N): *Gives a slight chuckle* Yeah. You're probably right.

Marina: Of course I am. Now, you should probably get some rest. It's not healthy to dwell on things when you're tired.

(Y/N): Sure, but now the hard part begins... Trying to sleep when you're mind wants to think.

Marina: Yeah, but what else are you going to do.

(Y/N): Yeah. I'll head back to bed now. See ya.

(Y/N) walks out of the kitchen, heading back towards the guest bedroom.

Marina starts to go back to her room, until she hears the fridge open up.

Marina turns around and sees (Y/N) going through the fridge.

(Y/N): One little snack won't hurt.

He then grabs a snack then leaves.

Marina starts to go back to her room, giggling.
