"It's been reported that Talia Marlowe, victim of the hit and run-"
"Marlowe's cousin Julian, who was discovered on CCTV, finally admitted to the crime-"
"At a dance competition at her school, Talia suddenly fainted mid performance and is yet to release a statement about-"
It was all the local news stations could talk about, and at 5 o'clock in the hospital, the limited channels all had the news on, even the music channel.
"Can they not talk about something else? Surely there's a murder or something." She flicked through the channels, ignoring Beckett who sat beside her.
"Eat."
"It's like their obsessed-"
"Eat."
"It's not a big deal and even if it was, I don't think it warrants such a big hoo ha."
"Talia. Eat."
"All this fuss about something that happened ages ago-"
"For god's sake Talia!" Beckett finally exploded, "Are you trying to kill yourself? You need to eat something."
The tension was thick and Talia's eyes finally moved away from the television to her hands that sat on her lap, "I'm not hungry." She mumbled, the same sentence she'd mutter to everyone who had tried to get her to eat in the past day.
"Talia, the doctor said it's like you haven't eaten in a week. Like when you do eat, it's probably likely that you brought it back up again." Beckett didn't receive a response, "They said if you don't eat, they're gonna put you on a drip."
Talia huffed a little laugh, "Well, at least I won senior soloist. I'll get to dance in the finals."
"Yea, if you live till then."
Talia couldn't look at her family. She couldn't look at Beck. It was too hard to see their disappointed faces. The one with so much potential, just shattered, lying in a hospital bed, waiting for the day she'd be let out and left to her own devices.
"I'm a failure, Beck."
"You are so far from a failure Tally. You're strong, a force to be reckoned with." Beck had come straight to the hospital after hearing of Talia's accident, fearing the worst. When he arrived, it's as if Talia was acting if nothing had happened, "Tally, just talk to me. I just want to help you." He leaned close into her, "I can't do that if you don't want help."
That's when she did it. She had no idea what took over her, but with him being so close and her eyes flitting down to his lips every few seconds, it was an overwhelming urge.
