Chapter Twenty Three: About Last Night

Start from the beginning

I stared blankly at him, not sure of what to say.

"I..."

'What is going on? This trip has been wild! Two confessions in a matter of days? That's some k-drama level shit!'

"I..."

A smile formed on Hyungwon's face once he noticed I was tongue-tied, patting me on the head. "It's okay, you don't have to say anything. I just wanted to tell you... especially after last night. I didn't want you to misunderstand anything. I hardly do anything by accident, even when I'm drunk."

He continued patting my head as I stared at the front of his shirt, the one he had lent me when my dress got ruined.

"What are you two doing in here?"

I turned to see Kihyun had come looking for us.

He stopped when he noticed Hyungwon playing with my hair, Hyungwon pulled his hand away once a band member showed up.

"We just wanted to see the fish." Hyungwon replied quickly, "What the heck else do you go to an aquarium for?"

Kihyun wasn't convinced, his eyes narrowed. "Well, the guys want to go soon. Minhyuk already raided the gift shop."

"Okay, we'll be out in a minute." Hyungwon said, waving Kihyun away.

Once Kihyun was gone, Hyungwon turned to me again and said, "Listen, we should probably keep this secret. I'm definitely not supposed to be in a relationship right now, none of us are, so if the company finds out you might get fired."

I nodded.

"Yeah, that's probably for the best." I muttered.

"We should get back to the group." Hyungwon said, grabbing my wrist to lead me out of the aquarium. Once we were close to the group, he let go.

"There you two are!" Minhyuk said, showing off his oversized dolphin stuffed animal, "I just bought this! I didn't get to see one on the beach, and this is the next best thing!"

I smiled at him, admiring the stuffed dolphin, "It's cute." I said. I could already imagine him having to carry it on to the plane back with him.

"I got this for you." Wonho said, walking over to me. He was holding onto a stuffed animal too, "I just thought you needed a trophy."

He handed me a hammerhead shark stuffed animal.

I smiled down at it.

"I'm sure it's not as good as the real thing, though." He chuckled.

I shook my head, "No, it's perfect. Thanks Wonho."

He smiled at me before returning to the group.

"I should have thought of that!" Changkyun groaned, arms crossed.

"Real smooth of you." Jooheon chuckled, patting Wonho's shoulder.

As we left the aquarium, I held the shark doll tightly in my hands. It was plush and soft, and reminded me of Wonho in some ways. It was a cute shark, and he was a cute guy that was actually pretty tough too.

While I was smiling to myself, I was distracted when I caught Hyungwon's eye. He glared at the stuffed animal in my hands. Probably jealous that Wonho had made a move like that.

'If only he knew that Wonho had confessed before him... he'd be pissed.'

But I didn't want to come between any of these guys. They were a group, and I was just a person that came along to protect them. I wasn't going to ruin anything. I would much rather quit as a bodyguard than cause fights between them.

Hyungwon walked along next to me and grabbed the shark, flipping it around in his hand.

"I would have picked a better one." He muttered before giving it back to me. "Besides, I'm the one you saved from the shark, I should have bought you something."

Kihyun was eavesdropping on our conversation and cut in, "If you want to repay her, then maybe you should take her to dinner." He suggested.

Hyungwon blushed a bit, taken aback by Kihyun's suggestions. I was surprised too, because I would have thought that Kihyun would have discouraged this, I guess not.

The rest of the group must have been listening in too, "Why should Hyungwon take her to dinner?" Changkyun asked, eyebrows knotted up.

"Because she did save him from a shark, she deserves to have a nice meal payed for." Jooheon said, nodding. "I agree."

"We already celebrated last night!" I argued, shaking me head, "I don't deserve anything special anyway, this is my job. I get a large pay check for this stuff."

"Your job is to protect us from fan girls, not sharks." Shownu laughed.

"What do you want to eat?" Hyungwon asked after clearing his throat, "I'll pay."

The boys teased him as they got into the car, all except Wonho who seemed displeased with the proposal.

"You pick." I said to Hyungwon as we sat in the back. Once again I was sat between Wonho and Hyungwon. Wonho turned away from me as the car rolled away, looking out the window.

"I don't know either. Maybe sushi?" Hyungwon suggested. He seemed pretty happy for the first time since the vacation started. I guess all he needed was to open up to me, then he became much brighter.

"That works." I replied.

"Then it's a date!" Kihyun cheered from the front seat, turning up the music. He had a AUX chord and had turned on Dramarama.

'Date?'

The boys all sang along to the music, except Wonho who was rather quiet. I'm sure he wasn't too happy about seeing me go on a "date" with Hyungwon.

I sang along to the music too, since this was one of my favorite songs.

As the song came to an end, I felt Wonho grab a hold of my left hand. I glanced over to him, but he was still looking out he window. He intertwined our fingers. I smiled to myself before returning to singing. As the drive went on a bit longer, I felt someone grabbing onto my right hand.

Hyungwon, ignorant to Wonho holding my hand, was holding onto my other hand too. I looked over at him and saw his mouth turn up into a smile as he stared ahead.

'Wow, I'm really in quite a predicament.'
