Jimmy sat and waited in anxious silence in the emergency room waiting room. He kept tapping his leather shoes against the dirty tiles, his heart skipping beats.
Finally, a nurse came out with a clipboard. "Somebody here for Emily?" she said looking down at her clipboard. Jimmy jumped to his feet. "I am." He said almost out of breath. The nurse smirked and put her hand on his shoulder.
"Sir, she's okay. She overdosed on asprin in a suicide attempt."
"Su...suicide??" Jimmy said in a pained whisper as he felt hot tears run to his eyes.
"Yes. We have to draw blood to see how high the Asprin level is in her blood before we can ship her by ambulance to a bigger hospital with a mental section. We'll get the results at about 3 in the morning, so we'll be here for about four hours."
Jimmy looked down at the ground, tears falling to the ground. The nurse sighed in sympathy.
"Okay Sir. Are you her brother, cousin or-"
"I'm her boyfriend.. Her forever.."
