The figure moved swiftly and noiselessly, as if not wanting to be observed. I turned and squinted my eyes to try see through the darkness, to spot the face of this shadow runner, this mysterious figure. What or who it was? Maybe it was a trick of the eye or if I was just hallucinating with the lack of sleep or exhaustion but Dylan leaned close and whispered "You see it too right?" I just sat there and nodded as took in a nervous breath, as a pricking sensation of trepidation shivered down my spine. I'm cold, tired and terrified and now I think we're being followed through the woods by some mysterious dark blur.

How we got here well I can't even remember. My best friend, Dylan and I were going on a getaway for the long weekend. We were supposed to go hiking and camp near this beautiful waterfall near Lake Moraine. But Dylan decided to take his dinosaur-aged car which broke down in the middle of the road. We left the car on the side of the road and walked to find a nearby service station which someone said was only less than a mile ahead. They were wrong I don't know what service station they were talking about but we walked for an hour and didn't find anything. Then somehow we ended up away from the road near the forest and then we ended up here 13 hours later. I don't know where we are, both our phones are dead and we have a minimal amount of food and water left that's not going to last us a very long time, it will barely make us 2 days. I'm drained. We set up a small campfire with some branches and stones we found nearby. Probably just have to spend the night here and start walking again in the morning to try to get back to civilisation. I could hear heavy breathing somewhere behind the darkness in between the trees it was quite far away and faint. There was definitely someone in the shadows who seemed out of shape and were spying or watching us.

"Hello? Who are you? Please show yourself we come here in peace we are simply just lost."

And the dark blur moved closer and closer to the dim light of the fire, it wasn't one blur but two. Their faces were stained with patches of mud and dirt, hair was rough. One of the figures was a lean man who looked like he was in his mid-30s and he had golden honey coloured hair which was glowing as the light from the campfire touched it timidly. The other blur was a women who was about the same height as the man she had a beautiful curvy body, her hair was the same colour as chocolate and it flowed down to her waist there were some highlights of a faint pink and a light honey colour that glowed in the moonlight. They both look haggard almost as if they tumbled down a hill while fighting a bear or something.

"Hey Ethan, it's just a couple of kids."

"Ummmm....would someone like to explain what's going on here?"

"Oohhh sorry, hi I'm Teylia but everyone calls me Lia for short. This is Ethan. We were on a tour together and well we kind of wondered off and got left behind and we have been walking through the forest for I don't even know how long, to try find anyone to help us get back because we aren't familiar with this area. I'm actually from Australia as you can probably tell from my accent."

While she said all of this we all managed to be sitting down, together around the campfire each one of us had a log of our own. The logs that we had managed to sit on were full of moss and dead bark which was peeling off the main section of the trunk, like the skin of a banana peeling off, there were thousands of species of bugs crawling all over my legs but I was too weary and lost all my energy that I was least bothered to stop them from crawling up my legs. A cool breeze blew through the air as it playfully picked up some strands of my hair and the leaves on the trees slowly ruffled causing a choir of noise but it was gentle and soothing in a way.

"...ya so we eventually heard some voices around and thought why not go and see where they were coming from and we found you guys. So can you help us get back?"

Well I definitely zoned out for that whole explanation and now I guess I'm just going to nod and look like I listened to it all. But I just glance over at Dylan hoping he knows that I wasn't listening and thankfully he knew me too well and just smirked as he turned back to Lia.
