(LAURENS POV)

"8am, are you freaking kidding me" I groaned as I sat up, checking the time, before falling back down into my warm bed.

After laying there for a while, i decided that it was pointless even trying to fall back to sleep, so I rolled to the end of my bed before rising to my feet.

On my way to the bathroom I grabbed my workout clothes, when I say workout clothes, i dont mean those fancy ones, just a pair of gym shorts and my jersey, there's nothing fancy about me.

After my morning routine, that consisted of a quick shower, brushing my teeth and pinning back the lose hairs that had falling away from my braid, I headed down stairs.

"Morning sweetheart" my father hummed as he picked up his coffee bring it to his lips.

" Morning dad, Taylor and Chris still asleep?" I questioned as I pulled a box of cereal from the pantry, poring a small amount into a bowl.

"Its Saturday, of course they are, I'll have to drag Chris out of bed by his toes at some point today, or he will sleep the day away" he chuckled as he gestured for me to sit.

Just as I was bring my spoon full of cheerios to my mouth my father placed his newspaper down on the breakfast table in front of him, " so lauren, i had an email from the school this morning, asking not to forget to sign the papers for the trip to India" he spoke up

I shrugged my shoulders " I'm not going, so it doesn't matter" I nodded as if to reassure myself

My father let out a sigh " this counts as half of your grade, you will be going" he  emphasize " your mother 2ould be so proud of how well you've been doing in school, she always wanted you to succeed at life, don't let her down" he said quietly as he got up from his seat, giving my shoulder a light squeeze ad he walked past.

After finishing my breakfast I decided to take a run, so I pulled on my nikes and headed out the door, shoving my earphones in as I searched up my work out playlist.

After running for around 20 minutes I found myself standing at the scene of the crime that turned my world upside down, as I held onto the railing that had since been replaced, i looked down to the river below.

The river that almost killed me, the river that took away the most important woman of my life, the river that destroyed me.
I stood for a while gazing out at the cold water as it thrashed against the stone walls that surround it, i watched as couples below walked hand in hand, as they enjoyed the view.

Almost 2 years ago, my mother and i where coming back from my soccer game, normally it's always sunny here, but that night, that night there was a storm. As we crossed over the bridge, the Audi in front of us, lost control due to the terrible weather conditions, my mom swerved the car, but couldn't get control of it after,, we went through the railing.

I don't remember much after that, i just remember waking up in hospital several weeks later, with no idea what had happend.
I'd lost my mom and that took alot of time to come to terms with, how do you go on without your mother?

After what seemed like forever I managed to pull myself away, continuing with my run.

After running to the other side of town, I decided to stop for coffee, god knows I deserve it, i approached a small coffee shop named 'sinu's cuban coffee " as I pushed open the little wooden door i was hit with the smell of rich coffee and the smell of fresh bread, 'damn it smells good in here' I thought to myself as I approached the front to place my order.

"Hello, what can I get for you" the older woman asked as she lifted her head to greet me.

'Why did her face look so familiar' I thought to myself for a brief second before answering her.
