"Roraayy!!" Amy says excitedly into her earpiece.

"When were you gonna catch me up on what's going on?" he asks slightly irritated. "Why's Mordred left Camelot?"

"Oh, yeah, sorry," his wife says quickly. "He's still on the good side. He's just doing some spy work. Oh! Hold on I've for another call coming in!"

She presses the button and connects to the Doctor.

"Amy! I'm on my way back to Camelot!" says the Doctor. "We got the cup, I've left it with Merlin."

"Well done, Doctor," Amy says in a mock seduction voice. "How was the dragon?"

The Doctor gulps loudly and Amy hears it through the earpiece. "It was definitely a different experience." And after a moment he adds, "I'd've preferred my TARDIS. But never the less we got the job done."

Amy laughs, "Suppose it's a good thing you left me here, then."

"Indeed it was. I estimate I'll be to Camelot in an hour. Meet me by the main gate?"

"Okay, we will have to hurry back to the castle, Mordred is expected to check in about that time," replies Amy.

"Will do. Over and out!" the Doctor says, pressing the button to end the call. "I've always wanted to say that to someone!" he says to himself, a grin splitting his face in two.

Amy switches back to Rory and gives him a more detailed explanation of what had been going on before she has to go about her duties tidying up the Royal Chambers.

Mordred hadn't taken his horse from the stables. He had taken one that no one would miss soon. It was a rowdy one who hadn't been broken in fully. It was an easy fix, all Mordred did was mutter a few words and the horse obeyed his commands.

Mordred stops at mid-day to rest after what he guesses was twelve hours riding. By tomorrow night, he predicts he will be at Camelot's border.

As he journeys, his thoughts drift back to his friends. Mordred misses Gwain's endless chatter, Percival's lighthearted pranking, Leon's battle stories, and he misses feeling Arthur's presence. Young but wise. He even misses Merlin, surprisingly, and his endless worry.

Mordred heats up some stew over a fire and presses the button on his earpiece to check in. He waits while there's an odd clanging noise coming from it until it's finally picked up.

"Mordred?" Amy's voice comes across.

"Yes," he replies.

"Hold on one second, Mordred," she says.

Mordred hears a whizzing sound on the other end.

"Okay, everyone can hear you now," Amy doesn't explain further. He doesn't know that the Doctor soniced Amy's ear piece, which is laying on the table, to have louder speaker.

"Mordred!" Arthur's voice comes across. "How is your journey thus far? I trust you've not come across any Camelot patrols?"

"No, my lord," replies Mordred. "It has been quite dull, what with not having Gwain's endless talking."

Mordred hears laughter and some mumbling from the other end.

"How long, do you judge, until you reach the border?" asks Arthur.

"Not long, sire," Mordred explains. "Tomorrow evening I expect."

"Percival will be leading a patrol along the border then. Make absolutely sure that none of the knights see you."
