A heart full of bitterness
Never goes far
It only gets worse
And leaves jagged scars
And what we're bitter with
Goes on ahead
While we're left behind
With our lingering dread
We choose to hate
And cling to it
Telling ourselves
To never forget
And push the blame on
Someone else
When really
The sole problem
Can be fixed with ourselves
We can forgive
And we can learn to let go
Experience the joy
We long for in our souls
But we can never
Truly laugh and
Truly live
Until we've fully
Forgiven our past.
