Why do we hold onto
Pain when it so
Clearly makes us worse?
We hold it deeply
Close to our souls
Begging and hoping
For the numb to come
But recently I understood
The truth about pain
Because as that numbness set in
Within myself
I didn't feel quite alive anymore
So I'd rather have pain
I'd rather feel something
Than nothing at all.
