Ignorance Is Bliss

It's none of my business, this I know,
But in order to let go,
There's something you must know.

Ignorance is bliss,
I wish I'd never seen the twist,
I wish all had stayed the same,
At least then ignorance and blissfulness would reign.

Now, instead, I'm left alone,
And in order to let go,
I must let you know,
That I know and I accept.

I refuse to reject the relationship we have built,
Even if it kills me, I won't let our empire fall,
You can bury the sword in my chest to its hilt,
But I will always stand tall.

Lie, manipulate, hide and betray,
But I will never let my heart lead my life astray.

You can slash and you can stab, you can slay me with your lines,
But I beg you to fill the void of unsaid words,
Of unshed cries,
Of hidden secrets and shaded lies.

I want to fill the space all our secrets have put between us,
But I find it nearly impossible to say the first words,
If only you'd step forward and allow me to trust,
We could work with our lines, rather than fight in the shadows with our swords.

We could persist, ever valiant,
If you'd fill the silence with your confession,
And realize that sometimes, quiet is most violent.
