Do any of us really know anything? We see things, we hear them and touch them, and we think we understand them, but often what we think we know is a lie, an illusion. Most of us are far too caught up in our own lives to truly know the world around us for more than what we see. It takes time and a willingness to learn to truly begin to understand something.

It's no wonder the French and Spanish languages have two verbs for 'know'. One means to know of and one means to be familiar with.

I went through life knowing of things and people, never getting to know them, making flawed perceptions in the process.
