Mitchell hates her job.

She doesn't even like coffee, nor does she like constant interaction with strangers, but she's come to realize that desperation doesn't come with the luxury of free choice. This is how she became a cashier at Starbucks.

She normally doesn't complain because the salary pays for a big portion of her expenses and the constant aroma of freshly ground coffee was far from terrible. The main thing that bothered her about her job was the plethora of self-entitled customers that walked through the stall doors every damn day.

And it seems that the first one came early on this particular shift as a tall, blonde kid about her age came up to the line.

"Good morning!" She greeted chirpily as she paused from wiping the countertop, "How could I help you?"

Then the kid slowly looked up from his phone and raised a condescending eyebrow, "I don't know. Probably by taking my order?"

And.

Wow.

Okay, you rude twat.

Mitchell's smile didn't falter but she's pretty sure her lips twitched. She was almost sure that today was a day better than usual because she greeted him nicely. And the fact that he responded the way he did was an effective way of saying that niceness didn't fit her.

She still smiled as she pushed the words between gritted teeth, "Of course. May I take your order?"

The guy boredly says, "Coffee Jelly Frappe. Venti."

"Okay--"

"Wait, make the milk low-fat," He added and looked back down at his phone. Mitchell wanted to roll her eyes.

"Alright. Can I get your name, please?" She asked and she was almost surprised at how sincerely polite she sounded. She was proud, if she was honest.

"Corbyn," He mumbled, barely audible, and she nodded.

And just because he was a dick, she wrote out Korbin.

The order was finished in less than three minutes, she called him out, and ignored the look on his face when he read what she wrote. She offered a sickly sweet smile as she waved him goodbye then he was out the door. She didn't think much about it after.

That was until he came back at the same time the very next day.

"Good morning!" She greeted despite the urge to say well my luck is shit isn't it, "What can I get you today?"
