You're not sure if either of you really understood where that exchange came from, but you both were fine with it. You're also pretty sure that Connor didn't know that what he had said to you actually meant a lot to you. It made you feel better every time you repeated it to yourself. You were slightly thankful that Hank was in a deep sleep during it. He'd definitely think you were weird for asking for reassurance from an Android. Eventually, Connor wiped your tears and asked you why you were thinking like that. You weren't positive on why it had came to you, but he attempted to help nonetheless. It worked. He found you a pillow and blanket to cuddle into on the living room couch, in which you quickly drifted off into.
The next morning, you awoke to the feeling of Sumo's wet nose against your cheek. Your pet his head with a smile. Despite his large size, he preferred being a lap dog.
"Good morning." You found Connor stepping towards you. "Are you ready for breakfast?" You nodded. Sumo also must've known what that word meant, because he quickly made his way to the food bowl. The three of you migrated to the kitchen, where Hank was already seated. You sat down on a chair across from him.
"What are the plans for today, Lieutenant?" Connor asked, standing in front of the table like a waiter at a restaurant. You continued to eat the home-made pancakes.
"Get you out of my sight, that sounds pretty good." Hank smiled to himself, sticking part of a pancake in his mouth.
"That would not be beneficial to the investigation." Connor responded slowly as he stared intently into his eyes. You attempted to stop yourself from laughing. He was silent for a while, before speaking.
"I guess we still have to figure out what happened last night. We'll bring her into the station to be questioned." Hank stood up, dropping his dishes into the sink without bothering to clean them.
"We could try." Connor spoke as if you weren't two feet from him. After another minute, you added your plate to the tower of dirty dishes. You'll surely clean them sooner or later before you leave this house. That is, if you ever do.
"Whenever you're ready, we can leave." Hank told you as he walked away from the dining room. You looked up at Connor for a second. He nodded.
"We're ready." You called to him. He looked at you with a look of confusion and annoyance. He sighed loudly, and waited for a moment.
"Fine."
The three of you piled into the car once more, except to a new location. The driver remembered to keep the volume low, and in return you thanked him for that. He didn't respond. Looking out into the sky above you found that the once white-dotted sky was covered with grey. Some lights from buildings were still turned on due to the low light levels. Other cars and buildings sped by as you drove to your destination. Before you knew it, the car stopped nearby to a large white building. You stepped out and began walking inside with the other two. Hank swung open the glass and wood door in front of him, and stepped inside. You found people all around you. To your right there were people seated at benches, who appeared to be waiting for something. And to the left, men and women in uniform seemed to be taking a break, chatting over random topics. Technology was in almost every corner you could find. Androids, televisions, and some weird looking doors and gates were placed around the main entrance. To say the least, the building was very well designed. Yet, if this was just the beginning, you don't know for how much longer you could keep up. You'd rather be back at Hank's house, cuddled up with Sumo. Ahead of you, Hank flashed a card at an Android lady standing behind a polished white counter. A large board was displayed behind her. It had images and videos flashing on and off on it. It confused you.
"Welcome, Lieutenant." She smiled, then held a hand for him to pause. "Who is that?" She pointed to you.
"She doesn't remember her name. But she's a victim of a crime that occurred last night. We're questioning her." The woman nodded.
"Go ahead." Him and Connor suddenly turned to the right of the building past the nervous people as if they've done this hundreds of times. ...Well, they probably have. They passed a tiny gate placed in front of a large room. You hesitated for a moment as the gate automatically opened for you, but you still entered. On the glass window next to you, words were engraved. 'Detroit City Police Department' with a badge under it. So you're in Detroit? You don't recall the name. Connor seemed to notice your anxiousness.
"Please try to remain calm. You're not in any trouble." He gave a quick smile. It seemed forced, but you smiled back halfheartedly. That seemed to help a bit. The large room you had just entered contained a multitude of desks and computers, alongside televisions. Phones rang on and off, while other workers were either at their desk or doing something else related to it. To your left a dark-skinned man sat at a desk. His office was surrounded with glass paneling, leaving no privacy whatsoever. He looked up for a second at the sight of your group, then looked back down. You continued to be led forward, and to the left again. Until your eyes met a pair of blue ones. A man attired in a leather jacket and jeans approached you.
"Hey, hey where are you going?" He called. Hank stopped and turned around. "You know visitors aren't allowed, which includes your new girlfriend here." You looked at him with a confused look on your face. His blue eyes pierced through you. They gave off an unfriendly look.
"Piss off, Reed. You're not involved in this case." Hank responded in a monotone voice. It seems like they've had a conversation similar to this one before.
"Yes I am! I was at the crime scene!" 'Reed' begged. Connor spoke up.
"You arrived at the scene at seven, but left a few minutes later at seven 'o eight." You smiled like a dork at Connor's remark. 'Reed' sighed, ignoring everything that was just said to him.
"And how did I not find you there, darling?" He quickly held onto your right hand. You attempted to pull away. Hank sighed sharply, separating his hand from yours and pushing it onto 'Reed's' chest, making him stumble backwards.
"Fuck off Gavin." He continued to briskly walk away. You followed after him quickly like a lost puppy. Gavin rolled his eyes, yet remained focused on you. You turned around to see two doors ahead of you. At the farthest end, Hank held his hand on a box sticking out of the wall, and the door slid open automatically. It took you a second, but you eventually walked inside.
I apologize that this chapter is shorter/really boring, but I decided it would be better to have the interrogation in the next chapter. It just fits better.
Until next time!~
