Chapter 12 - Euphoria

Start from the beginning

"Oh, shut up," I say. "How long was I out?"

"I've only been up for maybe...I dunno...fifteen minutes or something."

Wait. So...he was holding my hand for that long? Why didn't he let go?

"Why did you keep holding my hand like that?" I ask.

"Well, I wanted you to see that it happened. I thought it was funny," Phil replies.

I wish he had done it for another reason.

"Ah, okay. It was pretty funny," I say.

"Mmhmm. I don't know why I fell asleep on the couch. I must have been pretty tired. I barely remember anything."

        I chuckle. "You old man."

"Shut it," he says, playfully punching my thigh.

I wish he would punch my thigh again. I wish he would run his hands all over my body, actually.

No, no, no. I need to stop. If I get too excited, he'll possibly notice. I just need to think of something gross...like Meghan. Good, I am already calming down.

"So what did you dream about?" I ask.

He seems surprised by my question. "Oh...just a dream about Meghan, I think."

I nod my head slowly. "Oh, that's nice. What happened?"

"Just typical relationship things," he says. "It was nice."

"It's funny. Because you said something in your sleep," I say.

I don't know when I grew balls this big, but here we are.

"Did I? That's funny. What did I say?" Phil asks curiously.

"Well I heard you say my name."

He laughs. "Oh. Makes sense. You come up in my dreams a lot, naturally."

"Yeah...then a minute later you said 'I love you.'"

His eyes widen a little. "Erm...oh. Dan, uh...my dreams are pretty...all over the place. I hope you didn't think anything weird from that. I definitely wasn't saying it to you...in the dream. So don't worry!" He laughs awkwardly.

My heart sinks. "Yeah...I know, Phil. I didn't think anything weird. I was just telling you what I heard, that's all."

"Yeah," he says. "Well, since I'm pretty tired, I think I'll get in bed."

"Wait, I didn't get to tell you about my day," I say, a hint of disappointment in my voice.

"Oh, sorry. Tell me about it!" He sounds intrigued, but he probably doesn't give a shit.

"It was nice. I helped her with lighting and filming...helped her come up with some things to say. Her house is so beautiful though. It's pretty big. Her mum is a really nice lady. I had fun. Ruby is really lovely."

"That's great," says Phil. "I'm glad you like her, and I'm glad you had a good time."

        "Yeah, me too," I say.

        "Have you...kissed yet?"

My memory flashes right back to that dream. I imagine how it felt, kissing Phil's soft lips...and how it made my heart beat wildly. I remember how I felt such euphoria, like it was running through my veins.

I just want to shove him against the wall and kiss him until my lips are numb. I want to press my lips to his neck and trace his bare body with my fingertips. I want to make love to him, and feel every inch of his body with mine. God, do I Iove him.

"Erm...yeah. It was really nice. She kissed me and it was the best feeling in the world," I say, imagining the dream.

My feelings for Phil help me pretend how I feel about Ruby.

"Aw. That's cute," Phil says. "I'm happy for you."

"Thanks, Phil. I'm happy for you too."

He smiles. "Well, I should get to bed. Goodnight, Dan."

        "Goodnight," I say.

I lie in bed, the dream replaying over and over again in my brain. I've been lying here like this for two hours. I imagine what would have happened if the dream kept going and it makes me feel extremely aroused. All I want to do right now is feel Phil's beautiful body. I've never seen him fully naked before, but I know that he must look gorgeous when he is.

Suddenly, I come up with an idea.

I knock on Phil's bedroom door.

I don't hear anything so I slowly open it.

It's pitch black. I'm not as familiar with Phil's room as I am with my own, so I very cautiously walk toward Phil's bed.

"Phil?" I say softly. "Wake up."

He does his little, "Ahh!" that he always does when he gets a jump-scare.

"Sorry!" I say. "Didn't mean to scare you."

"Dan, what's wrong?" he says, in his hot, sleepy voice.

"Erm...I had a really bad nightmare and I can't get back to sleep. My sleep has been shitty lately...so I really could use a good night's sleep. So...you think I could...sleep in your bed with you?"

"Oh. Erm...sure. Yeah, I don't mind. Come on."

        "Okay, thanks," I whisper.

I slowly crawl onto Phil's bed, feeling for the edge of the covers so I could sneak under them. I pull them over me and feel Phil's body heat trapped beneath the blankets.

        "You good?" Phil asks.

        "Yeah," I reply. "Thanks."

        "Sure."

        "Erm, Phil?"

        "Yeah?"

        "I'm uh...I'm naked. I hope that's okay."

He doesn't say anything for a minute.

        "Phil? You awake?" I ask.

"Uh, yeah. I don't mind," he says.

"Okay. Well...sorry for bothering you. Goodnight."

"You haven't bothered me. Goodnight, Dan."

My eyes have now adjusted to the dark. I could tell that Phil is lying on his side, with his back to me.

I shimmy a little closer to him. My foot creeps over, attempting to find his. I find it, and keep my foot on top of his.

I hear him laugh a little through his nose. I don't laugh, but I'm smiling to myself.

"This is nice. It's kinda like a sleepover," Phil says.

        "I agree," I say happily.

I physically have to stop myself from pressing my body against his. I won't say what, but something on my body is going crazy for him.
