You always arrive early to school, and you like to spend some time in the library, listening to your favourite songs or looking for a new book to read in your free time. Today was one of the latter days.

You just finished reading some youtuber's autobiography, and you want to try something different, so you go over to the classical books section. It's quite at the back of the library, and no one really goes there often. You walk slowly through the aisles, taking in the old scent of the yellowing pages, listening to the rustling of the delicate sheets as you gently flip through them. The library is undoubtedly one of your favourite locations; to you, it's a place where you can lose yourself in a whole new world and leave your worries behind for a few minutes.

You reach the end of the aisle and you're looking at the top shelves, searching for a particular title, when your foot gets trapped in something and you lose your balance, but something – or rather, someone - breaks your fall. You close your eyes as you land on top of the person who was just turning into the aisle. The person landed right on his back, groaning in pain, as you fall straight onto his chest.

"Shit I'm so sorry," you say, your eyes still shut tight.

"Y/N?"

You know that voice. You open your eyes and find Taehyung's face uncomfortably close to yours, so close that you could feel his warm, minty breath on your cheek. "Taehyung! I'm so sorry, my foot got stuck in something. Did I hurt you?" You slowly start to distance yourself from him, attempting to get up, but he wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you back down, straight onto his stomach.

"Nope!" he says, hugging you tightly. "Just be careful, okay? What are you doing here so early anyway?" He says, and you both get up and dust yourselves off.

"I could ask the same thing to you!" you smooth out your hideous uniform jumper.

"I'm always here at this time..." he looks sad as he takes a deep breath and continues. "I come here early so I don't encounter any meanies on my way here, because they would beat me up if they saw me. I hide here because no one really comes to the classical section... and there's also a secret place no one knows about." He grins at you.

"Secret place, huh?"

"Yeah, follow me," he grips your hand and starts running through the aisles like he's going through a labyrinth, where you make one wrong turn and you're dead but instead, he's rushing through the safe roads and can reach the paradise at the end in no time.

In fact...

"Woah Tae! This is beautiful," you are pulled to a small garden which is in such good condition that you are sure, no other students ever come here.

Taehyung nods and, as if reading your mind, says, "No one really comes here except for the gardeners and cleaners – although there's never really much to clean since I'm the only person who comes here."

Of course, everybody is probably still asleep, you think to yourself as you look at your wristwatch, realising how early it still is. You usually wake up at 5.30am, but today you are already here with Taehyung.

You look around and notice how delicate the light pink roses look, swaying against the light morning breeze as the dark green leaves underneath them make them look even brighter.

The soft yellow lights that were the only thing lighting your path apart from the faint rays of sunshine that were creeping their way through the night sky.

"Come on, we don't want to miss it," Tae says, still tightly gripping your hand as you make your way through the garden, reaching the very distant end.

This is the far end of the school. From here, you could see most of the town below you, and it was truly a mesmerising scene. Tae leans on the low brick wall and points outwards. Sure enough, the sun is starting to rise, creating nothing but beautiful shades of blue above you. The now emerging sunlight gives the surroundings a pop of colour, and everything seems to come to life. A dark, romantic scene becomes a pretty, playful one in a hauntingly short span of time.

"It's gorgeous."

"It is..."

The silence that follows would have been awkward if it were someone else, but with Taehyung, it only seems like you are being enclosed in an aura of security and comfort.

"So... you see the sunrise every day?" You ask Taehyung, who is still immersed in the lovely setting.

"Yep. I come here at around quarter to five because I can't sleep anymore than that." He sighs. "Watching the sunrise relaxes me. Here I can think about things..." He goes silent and starts fiddling with his fingers.

You seem to read right through him. "Have a lot on your mind?"

"Well, I always used to wonder what it would feel like to share the sunrise with a friend someday... and I end up wondering what friendship feels like. Having someone you can trust and love; and getting those things in return. I get nothing but hate on a daily basis..." He whispers as his sentence comes to an end, and you could see slight tears brimming in his eyes, even though he is trying his hardest not to break down in front of you.

At the same time, you are wondering what it would feel like to be alone and hated all the time. You were used to having your friends around you, you grew up together and you are practically family, but you find yourself questioning how this boy in front of you felt. He always smiled and waved at people whenever they approached him, even though he is returned with nasty glances, or worse – fists flying right across his fragile face – and even after this, the boy kept smiling. If it were me, I'd have killed myself already. You find his courage unbelievable. He doesn't deserve this life. He is too good for this world.

You put your arms around the boy's body, and rest your chin on his shoulder, whispering into his ear, "I want to show you what true friendship feels like, Kim Taehyung."
