We don't hear anything besides the flapping of the American Flag above us...
"I know a lot rests on us," Captain Rogers starts, "this war will be decided today... and that's hard to comprehend... but all of you are here for a reason. You're here because unlike so many, you managed to survive the earth's most bloody war in history. This will define where we go and who we are. The human race itself may be extinct if this fails. But that won't happen today... Each one of you has proven himself worthy to be here. You have been through the worst humanity has ever seen and today is the day you take victory for us all. When I became a soldier... one thing became very clear. It's not about who you used to be... where you came from... what your social status was. Here on the battle field only one thing matters: Life. We fight for those we love and for those we cannot fight for themselves. What matters is who you choose to be now. And that even if you die only to save one life... that it's worth it. This is the hour that will change everything... right now..."
I look over at my man, honor for him in my eyes.
"The price of freedom is high... It always will be. But when you volunteered to fight, you chose to give your life for your country, family... and now your species... God has chosen you; each one of you for a reason. Our world doesn't belong to Hydra or Nebula, or any other species willing to take it. It belongs only to the one who created it. And we are here to keep it that way. Are you ready, to stand for our race, our freedom, our humanity, our souls and bring back this world that we call home?!"
"Yes sir!" they all say simultaneously.
"Are you ready to face the evil in this universe that threatens us, and fight back with the will of God?!"
"Yes sir!"
"Are you ready... to face this day with the power gifted to you, to save every strength, every weakness, every laugh, every flaw, every heartache, every moment of triumph, every moment of pain, every moment of happiness that comes with the human race as a privilege to their existence that makes us who we are, and turn death itself away from it?!"
"Yes sir!"
Cap puts his hand up to his forehead in salute and the soldiers do the same after standing straight with their heels together.
When he breaks it he looks over at me... and I instantly do the same, a smile on my face; a proud smile...
He returns it with a small one of his own and looks up at the flag that we now raise high into the air.
He's right.
Humanity will not go extinct today.
ESTHER:
"Okay remember, we have to be in contact with Tony so we can let him know right before we break into the ship. If it's too soon we'll get blown to smithereens and if it's too late... we'll get blown to smithereens..." I tell them as we ride in the airship (me, Loki, Bruce, Clint, and Pietro).
Loki nods with attitude as he flies us. This boat/ship is open at the top so thank God for my ponytail but it's still wildly annoying and hard to hear anyone.
"Banner, where do we get in?" I ask the doctor who sits beside me.
"There's a landing platform on the east side where the ships would enter and exit. That's where we need to be," he says as he looks at his phone.
