Chapter Seven

“Dayum,” the basketball in his hand, Trevor wolf whistled as Mia and her friend walked away. “Who was that?”

Graham shrugged, trying to act nonchalant – he was anything but. “Just a girl,” he said.

“She's a babe,” he stated, “She looks like one of those sweet, innocent ones, you know?” Graham rolled his eyes. Trevor laughed. “What does the Megster think about that?”

Graham groaned, bouncing the ball after stealing it from Trev, “I don't even want to think about that.”

“That girl has some serious talons,” he brought his hand up in a claw motion, “Meow.”

Graham tried to suppress his laughter, wanting to respect his girlfriend but knowing what Trevor said was true. Trevor ran to the side of the court and picked up a water bottle. He dumped it over his head, wetting his buzz cut blonde hair. He shook himself down like a dog, splashing water everywhere. “Are you gonna see the blonde again?” He questioned, prying.

“Probably,” he answered, “My dad--” Graham stopped himself from talking, realizing what he was about to say. “Never mind.”

“Graham!” His dad's booming voice called from the hotel balcony.

Trevor shuddered, “Man, your dad always knows when we're talking about him.”

Graham laughed, “Coming dad!”

He gathered his things and headed back into the hotel. Once inside and his shirt back on, he stepped into his father's “office.”

Graham's dad sat behind the desk, his laptop in front of him with important looking papers. His dark hair was styled appropriately, the grey hairs along his hairline noticeable. He was wearing a suit, as always. His dad was attractive for his age, with a strong square jaw and handsome cheekbones. Graham was thankful to have his looks, but even more thankful to not have his personality. “How did it go?” His dad questioned.

“It went well,” Graham answered formally.

“Good,” his father straightened his tie and stood up, “I want you to--”

They were interrupted by a quiet rapping on the door. Meghan poked her head through the crack in the door. “Oh, um... sorry to disturb, sir. I was just looking for Graham.”

Mr. Johnston put on a friendly face, saying, “Nonsense. You're just the person I was looking for,” he looked from Meghan to Graham, “I just about to suggest my son take his lovely fiance to the beach soon. How about it?”

Megan smiled, clapping her hands excitedly. Graham forced a smile, “Sounds great.”

His girlfriend left the room and Graham was about to follow when his father stopped him, “And Graham?”

“Yes, sir?”

“Avoid the cameras.”

When I came to, I was completely delirious and had no idea where I was. All I knew, there was a strange breeze over my face, Courtney was standing over me and my head was pounding. She was fanning me. Someone else was there, too. My eyes focused. Dark clothes, facial hair, glasses... Aaron? “Mia?” One of them said.
