The next morning, Damon was shaken awake from his spot on the floor by the girl.He turned to look at her.

She lay on her stomach, poking her head over the side of the bed.

“Why are you on the floor?” she asked.

Damon sat up, and rubbed his eyes. “Are you sure you don’t mean, ‘who are you’?”

She shook her head. “I want to know why you’re sleeping on the floor.”

“Because you’re on the bed.”

“But it’s a big bed. You could fit. Mother and Father used to do it all the time.”

Damon blushed, and looked down. “No, it’s fine,” he said. “I like sleeping on the floor.”

She looked at him for a few seconds, then smiled. “Okay.” She rolled on the bed, and looked at the ceiling.

Damon stood. “Now it's my turn to ask a question. How about… what’s your name?”

“Catherine,” she said, still staring up.

“Well… Catherine. Do you wanna get some breakfast?”

She looked at him, wide-eyed. “I can have breakfast?”

Damon raised an eyebrow, and slowly nodded.

She jumped off the bed, flung open the door, and took off down the hallway.

“Wait!” Damon went after her, but stopped in the doorway. “My name’s Damon, by the way!”
