Chapter 21: The Bash

I was all set to go out and have fun. Mom and dad both were home so, I didn't have to babysit Luce and Noah. Needless to say, they were begging and whining at me to take them along with me. I somehow shut them off by saying that I had an appointment with the dentist. The advantage of younger siblings afraid of the dentist.

"Do you want me to drive you there?" dad asked as he held back Noah by the hem of his tiny shirt.

"No, it's okay. I'll take the bus," I replied ruffling my little brother's finely combed hair.

I walked out in my usual attire of skinny jeans, a simple white top and sneakers.

I had to walk fifteen minutes approximately to the bus stop. That's what someone who couldn't drive had to go through.

-------------------------------_-----------------------------

I had been walking for almost five minutes. It felt weird walking alone. I felt like everyone out on the street was staring at me, making me to be super conscious about myself. And at a point, I realised I had been walking weirdly. Did it ever happen to anyone else?

Or was it just me being weird.

It was all peaceful once I was all alone walking by the street. The sun had almost reached the horizon and the sky almost scattered with shades of orange and red by now. It was beautiful and mesmerising not until someone started to honk their car from behind.

"Jesus! There are so many spaces for them to drive. You've got the whole road all for yourself." I murmured in annoyance and kept walking.

But the honking didn't stop. It just kept going on and on. Now, I was furious. Agitated I turned, just to find Arthur behind the wheels grinning.

He seemed to be enjoying my annoyed face a lot.

He pulled over next to me and rolled down his window.

"Going somewhere?"

"Yeah. At my friend's," I blurted out.

I didn't dare to speak of Kenaz. I figured the kind of reaction I'd get from him if I had brought out the name 'Kenaz'.

"I came by your house but your sister told me you had to go out to attend the appointment with the dentist," he chuckled.

"By the way, it's my birthday today." He lifted his brows with a smile on his face. Arthur would act childish sometimes, for which he had his reasons: I was his only childhood friend he was in contact with.

Duh!

So brave of him to reach out at my house. Unlike Kenaz, Arthur had been to our previous house once when we were kids so, I wasn't surprised hearing that. But the birthday part? I never knew it was his birthday too. Might be that I knew it when we were toddlers but that was like six years back!

"Hey, back to earth!"

He patted on the seat right next to him, "Hop in. I wanna take you somewhere! Please don't say no. I promise I'll drop you back to your friend's in time." He pleaded with brooding eyes.

And I couldn't deny.

What do you guys think? Did she do the right thing by accepting Arthur's plea?
