Steven made a new friend!

Start from the beginning

We were walking around the area, Rose holding my hand as her other hand resting on top of her growing belly. The pink star t-shirt stopped at my knees since it was a few sizes too big, we stopped here at dead man's mouth- however back then, it wasn't called anything if I remembered correctly. Rose kneels at the edge of the pond and reaches out her hand to the moss- it was in small patches and the water was so clear.
"... What's that?" I asked, standing behind her, watching from over her shoulder.
"This is a special type of moss, it's mixed with magic gem powers and in a few years it'll look for a way up that hill." Rose pointed to the mountain behind us.
"Why?" I asked. Rose smiled and gently held me on her lap, letting me touch the moss- smooth and soft. It reached out to me but Rose grabbed it and placed it back into the water.
"It wants the sun, it wants to be free. Like us." She smiles.

"We need to get my mom's moss to the top of that mountain! Come on!" I shouted dragging Sourcream and Bucks to the car- only for Lars to stop and let out an annoyed scream.
"What?! Ah! I knew if something weird happened today it would be because of your weird brother! But of course it was because of your weird mom!" Lars shouted- glaring at me. I froze and narrowed my eyes at him.
"What do you know about my brother?" I said stepping closer to him, he flinched and took a step back. "From what I can recall you've always been a jerk to him! And don't talk about my mom like you knew her, I barely knew her! So grab Jenny and put her in the car!" I shouted as I returned to Sourcream and Buck placed them in the back seats of the car while Lars buckled Jenny in the front seat. Lars took a seat in the back as I took the driver seat. Turning the car on and stepping on the gas we went flying- passing by other cars and ignoring the shouts and cry of Lars from the back seat, no doubt grabbing the seats for dear life. I would've been laughing at his demise but the only thought going through my head at the moment was trying to save Jenny, Sourcream, and Buck. They've been my friends for years and I'm not losing them to some moss my mom planted.

"Hurry!" I shouted as I parked the car and went to Jenny's side- unbuckling her and running to the top of the hill- Lars was falling behind but he kept up. We'd made it but then I tripped and looked down at my legs- the moss had gone over to me and was no doubt ready to make a meal out of me. Looking over at Lars I saw the moss was going around his head already. "Damn it." I hissed trying to move but nothing, the moss was too strong.
"(Y/n)..." I stopped for a moment and looked over to Lars. Our eyes met and I had seen for a brief moment the empathy in his eyes, a moment where he wanted to maybe apologize for being the way he is- "This sucks!" He said before the moss closed around him. "Seriously!-" I shouted but was cut off by the moss consuming me.

For a brief moment everything was quiet. It smelled like a wet sock inside the moss and it was cold and wet. It was uncomfortable like stepping into a humidified cave, you could shake the feeling of everything and nothing touching you. But then I saw a light on the other side of my eye lid, slowly opening my eyes, I noticed the moss blossomed into cherry flowers. Coughing and slowly standing on my feet a flower landed near me. Picking it up, I smiled a bit when I saw a mini version of Steven's gem in the middle.
"Woah!" Sourcream gasped,  looking over my shoulder I smiled when I saw everyone was okay. "I could totally rave to this." Sourcream continued as he unzipped his pants and began twisting them around in the air. Jenny and Buck cheered as I chuckled. Looking over at Lars I see him staring at me already. Narrowing my eyes I cross my arms and look back over to the view, the whole city in sight was nice. What's that in the distances?
"Um, hey… I'm sorry for what I said." Lars began but I wasn't listening, my eyes trained on the big pink ball on the boardwalk, as it made its way to the rollercoaster before getting hit dead on and sent flying to the ocean. I don't know why but I could've sworn that I heard muffled screams coming from it.
Wait. Pink ball? No, it's not a ball- it's a bubble!
"Oh shit! I gotta go!" I shouted waving everyone off, ignoring the stink look Lars sent my way as I ran down the hill and to my house to let the gems know what happened.

"Guys!" I shouted, wheezing as I made it to my front door where the gems were; Garnet relaxing on the couch, Amethyst was shoving some big ass burrito into her mouth and Pearl was tidying up the kitchen.
"(Y/n)? What's wrong?" Pearl asked in confusion.
"Where's Steven?" I asked, hoping my guy was wrong on him being at the bottom of the ocean.
"He's hanging out with a girl he met." Amethyst giggled.
"He didn't want us to watch him." Pearl mentioned, her cheeks turning into a light blue. Her way of blushing.
"They're at the bottom of the ocean!" I cried, Pearl drops her hand towel as Amethyst chokes on her food. Garnet shoots out of her seat and we're running out the door.
"I see them at the pier!" Garnet shouted, sighing in relief that they made it out of the ocean alive. "They're being attacked by a corrupted gem!" She added. With their spend and me on Garnet's back we made it to the other side of the beach within a minute. There was a destroyed pier and two small children standing by it.
"Steven! You okay?" I asked as I ran over to him, up close I noticed the girl more. Big round glasses, clear skin and long brown hair, I then noticed the glow stick around her wrist. The same one Steven was saving in the freezer. The thought of him saving something so small for someone really showed me that he cared about everyone and thought of them too.
"He was incredible!" She said with a beaming smile. She was adorable.
"Steven? Who's this?" I asked, causing everyone's attention to focus on me.
"Oh! (Y/n), this is Connie, Connie my older sibling, (Y/n). A corrupted gem was trying to eat us in the depths of the ocean but we handled it." Steven said, smiling and explaining it like it was nothing. To us it was a regular occurrence, but to Connie it was probably the scariest thing she's ever seen. But judging by the smile on her face- she handled it just fine.
"Wow. I'm gone for a few minutes and my brother and his new friend are almost eaten by a water gem." I joked, kneeling down. I checked both of them for injuries, lucky they were both okay.
"It was nice meeting you Connie, I'm glad you guys weren't hurt and I hope to see you around soon." I said to her, she smiled and waved goodbye as the Gems and I walked back to our little home. Steven waves goodbye too but not before asking for her phone number.
"Oh~ How exciting! Steven was with a girl!" Pearl said, as we walked into the house.
"Aren't they adorable!" I teased. Pear and I shared a laugh as we returned home. Steven blushing a bit at our words- it was the end of a nice day, but stressful day.
