Deal with a Manager

Hoseok opened his mouth to reply to the demon's jestful threat with an equally joking reply, but was interrupted by Jimin's strangely gruff input: "If. Not 'when.' If."

Hoseok shifted himself in his seat to stare at the irritated angel. "'If?'" he echoed, head tilted to the side. "'If' what?"

Jimin let out a mock laugh and pointed an accusing finger at Jungkook, causing the demon to startle at the sudden movement. "He just said 'when' he drags you down, not 'if,'" Jimin elaborated. "I'm not going to give hyung to you that easily, Demon Boy."

Hoseok caught onto what Jimin was implying quick enough and turned eagerly back toward Jungkook to see his reaction, only to find that the demon wasn't fazed in the slightest. In fact, his face held no fear nor apprehension but instead sported a devilish grin and gleaming eyes that held a firey challenge behind them.

"Bring it on, Angle Boy," Jungkook cooed.

"I swear, one of these days I'm going to strangle you," Jimin growled.

"That wouldn't be very angelic of you, now would it?" the demon fired back.

With the two bickering in the background, Hoseok decided to let them off the hook and return back to his work. He would just have to learn to deal with their constant arguments if they planned to tag along with him every time he went to work, so now was the perfect time to learn how to block out their voices.

Eyes on the screen in front of him, Hoseok went back to work on the editing of Namjoon's paper while mulling over Jungkook's earlier words. Sure, the prospect of not being able to remember his friends or family was saddening and terrifying, but being a demon didn't seem like that big of a deal. He got to help other people in situations similar to his, maybe even worse, so what's so wrong with that? Yeah, he was to be considered something unholy and unworthy of God's love, but, shit, if "God" had really loved him to begin with, would he really have let his situation get so sorry that an actual demon was helping him instead of something much more holy (or maybe a real human being)?

So, point being, Hoseok would rather become a demon than let his soul be consumed by one. But he supposed living a prosperous and happy life didn't sound so bad either. All he had to do was control his hormones, which was pathetically easy for him since nobody in the troubled company he worked at was a good match for him, and he would get off-scot free of his shitty manager.

"Ah," he muttered, having been so lost in thought that he hadn't realized that he had long since finished editing Namjoon's report. Oddly enough though, he must've been excruciatingly used to doing his job without paying that much attention because when he double-checked his work, he found it to be perfectly fine.

Huh. Maybe Hoseok didn't need to put so much effort into every assignment he got.

Then again, he might end up unemployed for not giving his all during work that was important enough to actually be criticized by the manager, so the risk wasn't all that worth it.

"Oh? Are you done?" Jimin asked, suddenly appearing behind Hoseok's chair.

Hoseok startled and turned toward Jimin with a slight frown. "Did you really have to sneak up on me like that?" he mumbled, turning his attention back toward his computer screen. "And not yet. I only finished the work I was supposed to do this morning, so I'm just now starting on the afternoon's assignment."

A slight hiss of sympathy escaped Jimin as he backed away from the office worker's now tensed form. "And how long will that take you? As long as the morning's work?"

Hoseok let out a slight laugh and peered back toward Jimin, eyes hollow of any emotion. "Longer."

"What?!" Jungkook exclaimed, startling both Hoseok and Jimin. "Then when will you be able to get home?! The morning's assignment took up most of the afternoon!"
