The door slid open.

Xiao snorted and laughed. "Colonel Burton can open my door. How convenient!"

The instant he entered the room Xiao felt completely relaxed.

Must be the relief of arriving home, he thought.

He collapsed on the couch, and his eyes narrowed to half mast. His lids felt heavy and soon his breathing slipped into even intervals. Then the sofa sank beside him. He felt Heine's palms lay gently on his back. The perfect pressure of his hand felt good and Xiao relaxed even further.

Then he left and Xiao instinctively frowned. Soon, his chin was lifted and a cup was pressed to his lips. He sipped the cool water and opened his eyes to see Heine beside him.

"Heine...Heine Burton..."

"Yes, you still know me." His voice was cold and faint.

Ah... that detached expression ...that frosty tone. Irritating! Irritating! So fucking irritating!

"How could I not recognize you!"

"Hm." The other person pressed the cup into Xiao Yan's hands indicating for him to continue sipping the water.

Then Heine turned his back to Xiao Yan.

As if electrocuted Xiao Yan shot to his feet.

"I hate having to always watch your back!" Despite his slight sway, his words were perfectly enunciated.

He thought Heine would simply walk away as always, but instead he turns back.

"Why?"

"Because it feels like I can't catch up with you! No matter what I do. I can research a neutralizing agent, I can develop a marker virus. I can tell you that one day I will figure out the drawbacks to the x-virus! It doesn't matter, you will still turn your fucking back to me! I can't beat you. I am only a burden on missions, so you don't look at me. You don't trust me like you do Liv and Mark. I am just dragging you down."

Xiao Yan stood there and his whole body shook with emotion. His pants slipped down and barely clung past his hips. Then he stepped forward and they dropped to the floor completely.

.
Heine's posture did not shift in the slightest.

Xiao Yan laughed at his own stupidity and fell back onto the couch. He was annoyed that he had so much to drink, his brain was just misfiring and jumbled.

He figured, that under the circumstances, Heine would completely ignore him.

But he didn't.

He walked up to him and slowly said, "I have been watching you."

The air seemed to separate and burst apart and a strange current flowed through the gaps.

"Ha?" Xiao Yan raised his head.

What did Heine say?

"No one can drag me down."

Xiao Yan realized that Heine was very seriously responding to his words.

"Wait until you finish the x-virus. I will hold you. No matter if you cry or beg me to stop. I will not."

Xiao Yan opened his mouth but couldn't say a word.

What? Won't stop what? Why is his brain not working?

Heine's hand settled on Xiao head softly as though he were comforting a child.

Do you want to know how much tolerance the Colonel has for you?

Maya's words rang in Xiao Yan's ear.

It doesn't matter if he doesn't have the courage to continue this anymore.
