Warning: some hate speech

===============================

Yoongi knew his parents were homophobes. He had never wanted to bring his relationship up with them before. He had brought girls home in the past and seen how his parents had lit up. He knew bringing Jin over would have the exact opposite effect. His parents thought they were just friends. But Jin had always pushed for both of their parents to know. The older had admitted his parents wouldn't take it too well but had also said he was just scared. But he was tired of hiding. And if Jin wanted it to be out in the open, Yoongi loved him enough to agree. Whatever happened, they would have each other.

"Eomma, Appa, I have something very important to tell you." It was at the breakfast table. As long as his parents were involved with eating, it wouldn't be that bad, right?

"Yes, Yoongi?" his mother asked as he took a sip of water.

"I have a boyfriend now. I'm dating Jin." He tried to spin his words as happily as possible, giving a strained, gummy smile. His parents immediately choked on their food.

"You're what?" his father shouted.

Yoongi shrunk back before trying to smile again, "Dating Kim Seokjin... isn't it great!"

His father stood and pointed to the hallway, "Go to your room. You're no son of mine, faggot."

Two days passed and Yoongi was not allowed out of the house. He hadn't even had the chance to text or call Jin to tell him what had happened. His parents were keeping him under a strict lockdown until they decided how to punish him or what to do with him.

It was early on a Monday morning when Yoongi was called downstairs and into the living room to speak with his parents. They both seemed to be in a better mood than they had been in the past few days. They were smiling. Yoongi preferred to see his parents happy but he didn't like it when his parents smiled like this. It was a basic admittance to let him know they knew something he didn't.

"Yoongi, sit down," his mother said. He did as he was told, sitting on the floor opposite of the couch they were both on.

His father took off from there, "We've been talking for a while now and we've come to the conclusion it would be better if you left Daegu for a while. A long while."

Yoongi was afraid of his father. He always had been. His father was a quiet person but he could be incredibly scary when he was angered and so Yoongi normally stayed away from him. He had a volatile temper a times and that left Yoongi walking on eggshells. However, this time he couldn't stop himself from sassing his parents. He really had nothing left to lose if they were going to try and take Jin away from him,

"Like where? Jeju? You can strand me on an island." He rolled his eyes.

"Don't speak to your parents like that, Min Yoongi." his mother chided.

Yoongi tensed as he saw his father's smile strain the slightest bit, "You're taking a flight tomorrow afternoon. You're going to America to finish school."

Yoongi's mouth dropped open. Never in a million years would he have thought his parents would have come to this. If he stayed in Korea, he and Jin could still meet in secret. They'd find a way. If they sent him to another country... another continent...

Yoongi shook his head. He would fight, "I'm not leaving. I love him." He stubbornly crossed his arms over his chest.

His mother jumped in at that but her smile was long gone, "You know Jin's family is very well to do. His father is a business man. What would the media say if word got out the Kim family raised a faggot?"

Yoongi had taken enough. He wasn't going to sit for that. He jumped to his feet and ignored how his father did the same as soon as he had, "He's not a faggot – no one is! He's a human being, just like me and just like you two! And he's amazing! And I love him!"

Mr. Min took a threatening step forward, "His father would be laughed out of his job. He would be lucky to work in a convenience store, Yoongi. And Jin would be the same. No one wants to hire queers or gays or whatever the hell you want to call yourselves."

Yoongi stopped his foot. He could feel his face going red as he dug his fingernails into the palm of his hand, "I can't leave him and I won't leave him."

"You'll leave him or we'll expose the Kim family. You're going to America, Yoongi, and that's final."

I think faggot is an ugly word, I'm only using it for this fic in the context of who Yoongi's parents are in the story. Love is love, guys. Love is beautiful. Who cares who you love? Just love. If we all loved more and stopped hating so much, maybe we'd be happier. Not that I have to tell you guys - you're all so loving already!  Thank you for reading and I hope you're enjoying!
