"Babe, you're wearing gloves," I continue to laugh.

He looks genuinely confused for a moment and then realizes and flattens his lips with disappointment in himself, keeping an amused smile from reaching his face as he looks away and tosses it to me, giving up. "I'm done with you."

"No you're not. You love me," I let my laughter die down.

"Yeah I don't know about that." He frowns and looks at me. "Wait what did you call me?"

My smile disappears. "I didn't," I say immediately, knowing what he's referring to.

He raises his brows. "You didn't?" he questions.

I just stare at him for a long moment with a blank―but also guilty―expression on my face before I turn from him and walk into the market instead.

I can hear him snickering but I don't turn around to look.

"Roughly a day's ride I think. If we keep the same speed," I answer as I pull out the gas tank.

"Where are we headed?"

I stand up, combing my fingers through my hair that hasn't looked good for days now. "I guess to our base in New York City or head to the cost where they are shipping off soldiers to the UK. There we should be able to find something to become useful with."

"...I feel so helpless," he says with sad eyes. "I mean look at all of this..." he turns his head to see the devastation that surrounds us.

"I know," I divert my eyes, the weight of our failure on my shoulders too. "It was out of our control this time, Bruce."

He still looks depressed... He casts his eyes down. "Natasha I―"

"Shh―wait," I cut him off when I hear something

"Shh―wait," I cut him off when I hear something. I pull out my pistol and look around, my eyes alert and searching for something. But everywhere is still...
