"Thank you for your business, come again!"

The shop door closes behind you and you start walking down the street, immersed in the beauty of spring nature all around you. It's considerably warm, even for late March, which makes you feel excited after the cold winter. You look at the blooming trees above your head and smile a bit for yourself.

As you get closer to home, you decide to take a longer walk to enjoy the bright day and start walking towards a park nearby. You pass by a few couples and grandmas with dogs that you politely greet. Just when you're about to take a look at the pond, you notice something that catches your attention.

It's a boy sitting on a bench  under the big alder growing near the playground. You know him a little — you used to meet him in the hallways of your middle school and during your afterschool activities, now you see him sometimes on your way home at the evening. It's Jeon Jungkook. He's wearing his typical baseball tshirt, jeans and timbs, completed by white snapback. But unlike his usual cool and somehow bright self, he seems lifeless and sad. You don't see his eyes, as they are locked at the white posy in his hands, but you wouldn't be surprised if you found out he's crying.

Normally, you wouldn't pay attention to it. It's not your business and you don't usually get involved, especially with strangers — but something about this boy makes you stop in your steps and slowly walk towards him. With no idea or plan in mind on what to say, you approach him.

"Hey," you blurt out without thinking. "Are you okay?"

He looks up and gives you a soft smile that you've never seen on him before. "Hi. I don't know."

You carefully sit down next to him, leaving a polite amount of space between you. "Did something happen?"

"I just got dumped," he says after a moment of thinking. "It's not like I didn't see it coming — it simply stopped working out and I knew it would happen. I just didn't expect today." He shakes his head a bit. "It's our anniversary today. Or was at least."

You pat him on the shoulder reassuringly before smiling. "You know what you need right now? Something fun to distract you."

He raises his eyes to you, studying your face suspiciously. "What do you have in mind?"

"Do you remember what kids used to do after school in middle school?"

"You mean apart from smoking cigarettes when they had no idea how to do it, or drinking alcohol despite being too young to handle it?"

"Yes, indeed," you laugh. "But I guess you never had time to come with us thanks to your dancing classes in the afternoon."

That sparks his attention. "What are you talking about?"

"Come on, big boy." You catch his arm and pull him up. "Let's go have fun."

Gwangalli Beach is not far from where you were and the traffic in Busan is quick, so nearly a half hour later you both stand on the sand beach, breathing in the salty air coming from the sea. To your surprise and relief, there are not many people around. You see two couples sitting on the sand and talking, a family with two little children playing in the water and a young woman jogging around with her dog.

"What are we doing here?" Jungkook asks and looks around. "Do you want to drown me?"

You lightly punch his shoulder. "No, stupid. I hope you're not wearing any designer clothes, you could be sad about it later."

"What are you —" Before he can finish the sentence, you drop your bag into the sand, kick off your shoes and with excited yelling run towards the water. Even though the weather is warm, the sea is still cold, making you yelp in surprise. You turn around with a huge grin when you hear Jungkook yelp at your side.

"It's cold!" he complains but before he can continue, you splash him with water. He gives you a shocked look before laughing and splashing you back. You continue like this for a bit, until you both become completely wet with sea water. Jungkook attempts to splash you again, but he slips and falls into the water.

"Jungkook, stand up!" you yell at him and fall after him from laughing too much. Soon you're both lying on the surface, letting the cold water hold you up. You let out a satisfied sigh and turn to Jungkook just in time to see him jumping at you and pulling you underwater. When you swim up, Jungkook is already at the beach, attempting to run away with loud laugh.

"Oh, you won't!" You dash after him, quickly catching up with him and pushing him into the sand, landing on top of him. For a few moments you're both quiet before bursting with another wave of laughter.

"Do you want to build a sand castle?" Jungkook asks when he catches breath again.

You nod, rolling off him. "Let's see who has the best castle-building skills."

You both find your own spot, raking the sand around you and creating a flat base for your castle. The sand is wet from the humid environment around you, making it perfect for building. You both become completely quiet, fully concentrating on the sand in front you. After a longer while, you stand up finished, just a few seconds before Jungkook.

"Done!" you scream at the same time and proceed to judge the other's work. You focused on building it tall with several towers while Jungkook made a moat and castle walls. Neither of them was perfect but you could see from the excited gleam in Jungkook's eyes that he has had fun.

Not being able to decide which one is better, you call over the two children. "Hey, could you help us decide which one is better?"

The children run towards you to admire your work. They both study it with serious, yet excited faces before finally standing up and both pointing at the Jungkook's castle.

Jungkook happily bounces, but you're not satisfied. "Why?"

"It's cuter," one of them says. "In your castle lives an evil dragon who would eat the princess."

You sigh. "Okay. You win, Jungkook."

Exhausted, you sit down next to your castles and let out another sigh. The children wave you goodbye and run back to their parents, leaving you alone with Jungkook completely pumped up.

"I see you're feeling better," you smile and fall on your back, watching the cloudy sky.

He lies next to you, eyes fixated on the clouds above you. "Yeah, I am. Thanks, Y/N. It was great."

"You say that only because you won the castle contest."

He lets out a soft chuckle. "No, I mean it. Let's do something like this again."

"Are you free tomorrow?"

"I was supposed to have a date tomorrow but I got dumped... So I guess I am."

"The pool gets opened tomorrow. We could check it out."

You hear a smile in his voice when he says: "Sure, why not?"

You smile a little and turn your attention to one particular cloud in the sky. It takes on the shape of crocodile, which makes you excited enough to tap on Jungkook's chest and point at it. "Look, it looks like a crocodile!"

"No, that's a hand."

And like this, you start a new game with watching clouds and arguing about what objects the clouds look like, leaving you with a pleasant feeling. Seeing Jungkook all smiley and happy makes you feel nice — it would be a shame if he spent the rest of his weekend sad, wouldn't it?
