the unlikely legend

i fall i fall
but see me rise

heavy is the head that wears the crown
heavy are the shoulders that hold the world
yet my whole being is weighted down by lead threaded into my bones

yet i rise, i rise

cut me open, gut me, spill my blood
it was never royal, it was never ordained
i will stitch my wounds with whatever i can find

i will rise

i was never chosen, never christened for this
yet fate gave me to foreign hands
now i spit at the sky and go hunting for those whose damned touch left fingerprints on my skin

i rise, i rise

i was not the holy sacrifice, but i was meant to die, yet here i am with my blade in your side
i am not the prophesied, but i am the undoing

watch me rise

i am not forged from sacred relics, not graced with the touch of the gods, or bathed in gold
i am the aftermath of the terrifying and offspring of unspoken shadows

and i will rise

you never saw me and you never will
i strike you down not for destiny, but as the bringer of vengeance for the silenced ones you've forgotten

over your corpse, i rise

i am not some foretold victor whose arrival has been waited on for several millennia
i am not dictated by legend or mythos to bring peace to a world that has never known it

i am not the divine heroine you seek
i am the phoenix in the molten ashes, i am the one covered in the grime of the inglorious, i am the cast off that will not be vanquished

i will rise and rattle the stars not because i was born to be among them, but because my wrath will not be cured by them

- an ode to my original characters

so this is the start of a series i'm planning for this book where i write 'poetry' for my ocs. a few updates in here are heavily inspired by my characters already, but these ones will directly relate to my ocs journey and arcs. and this one is definitely my dear unseen avenger.

(will there be more dedicated to my firstborn child??? absolutely)
