At first, I wasn't entirely sure what your cover had to do with the story. However, it reminded me of the part when Elijah first gained control of this vulnerable family. I'm not entirely sure why, but it does. It's also dark and aesthetically pleasing, much like the book itself is.

T I T L E

I'll admit, the song The Sound of Silence was stuck in my head for a while. Thanks a lot, haha. Although it's a tad long, it compliments the book's tone, henceforth I like it.

S U M M A R Y

The summary was just the right length, and made me genuinely interested in the book, as well as contemplate the answer to the question asked- which is later on answered. I enjoyed it.

G R A M M A R A N D E D I T I N G

This author has a fantastic writing style. They really know how to set the mood that the story flaunts. For example, there was a scene around the last few chapters involving sexual assault. The fact that the author could write a scene like that well showed his/her capability as a writer. There are also parts set in the past with brilliantly choreographed thrills.

P L O T

For the most part, the plot of this story hits every point it's supposed to, with high conflicts that will keep you on the edge of your seat. There are a couple transitions in the past that took a minute for me to get, but other than that, I appreciate the author's attention to detail and intensities, and enjoyed part of the story resting on how far a family would go to save its members.

C H A R A C T E R S

For me, there are two characters in this story whom really stand out: Micheal and Elijah. Micheal is interesting to me because of his interactions between him and Elijah and how it feels like he's slowly transforming throughout the book- but into what? Well, it seems as if we're finding out. And Elijah because, well, the readers are slowly finding out more about him and the reasons behind his intentions, which I find interesting.

Overall, this story had intriguing characters, a plot that had conflicts that peak the readers interest as well spend time making characters fleshed out, and a great writing style. I recommend it to anybody looking for an interesting story with a fantasy horror vibe.
