Up on stage
I look and see
All the people looking up at me
Smiling curiously
Hopefully
Waiting for me to show
She says her line
I say mine
The audience smiling
Some even chuckling
The music starts
My nerves are back
Breathing deeply
I say to me
"Just breathe, you'll be alright
Sing out your heart
Let them see
How happy you are to be there"
My cue comes
I start to sing
Wholeheartedly
Looks of awe
On their face
Then it ends
We speak again
I go off stage
And patiently wait
Till my scene is up
"What if I screw this up?"
I ask myself
Not knowing
someone heard me
My heart is racing
Pacing
Body aching
Full of nerves
Then someone says
"You've got this"
Before I can see
My cue comes up
I walk on stage
Chin up high
Confidence flying
Just like
A bird
In the sky
