Check-up

END OF AVNI'S POV

Avni woke up to a terrible headache, she looks around the room and doesn't find Neil. She gets up and enters the bathroom and walks past the mirror only to walk back to it a second later.

She looks into the mirror and sees her image, the look on Avni's face right now show how surprised she is to see her self in this state - disheveled. She touches her lips and they're swollen and her hair looks like it has been pulled repeatedly in several places. She pulls off her dress and sees pink spots on her neck which are fortunately light and gasps.

" what happened last night" she murmurs to herself " Did we? oh God. i have to ask Neil"

She brushes and takes her bath, then she dresses up and leaves the bathroom, she moves to the dressing table and sits down to put on her bracelet. She sees Neil come into the room through the mirror

" Avni get ready we're going to meet the doctor" he says and turns to leave 

" Neil?" she says and turns her head

He closes his eyes, turns back and then opens them " Yes " he says, sad that he might be  confronted on the question he doesn't want to answer

" What happened last night. My head aches" she says rubbing her head

" Nothing happened. You just came back acting weirdly and then fell asleep" he says confidently to try to convince Avni 

" My head hurts, I think I was drunk" she says

" yeah I noticed" he murmurs

" what?" 

" I-I said i'll go get the pain reliever" he says and walks to the drawers and takes the pills including her prescriptions " Here" he hands them over to her " take your drugs too"

" Ok Thank you" she says 

" We'll be leaving after breakfast" Neil tells her

" Ok lets go downstairs" Avni says

They go downstairs to see Bebe and Shweta sitting at the dining table

" Good morning " Avneil greet Bebe and shweta

" Good morning" they reply

" Mom, Papa kahan hai?" ( where's father-in-law) she asks Shweta

" He went to work" She answers

" why so early?" Neil asks concernedly

" He said he has an important work to finish" Shweta says

" This is why I'm going to resume work. I can't let Dad be stressing himself like this, why am I there if I can't do anything" Avni says worriedly

" Avni you can't go to work like this" Shweta says

" Yes I won't let you go" Bebe adds

Avni looks at Neil who's currently munching on his sandwich for help.

" what?" he says

" Help me" she says

" Avni they're right, you can't go to work in this state" Neil says 

" But..But I'm fine" Avni says and sees Neil look over to her leg and her crutches

" Ok..maybe I'm not" she admits " But please let me go" she says to the three of them

" Please" She pleads and adorns a cute expression on her face

" Ok but just for a day, and then if everything goes well you can continue, else you will stay home till we're satisfied

" Yayy Thank you" she smiles and looks over to Neil for final approval

"...Ok" Neil says after thinking thoroughly 

" Yayy" Avni smiles and gives Neil a side hug

" We'll be going now" Neil says

" Ok bye" Bebe and Shweta say

"...and just keep giving her her pills on time and she would heal very fast" Dr. Mallika says to Neil with a bright smile on her face " and about your crutches Avni, you'll have to keep using them" she smiles at Avni

" Thank you Doctor" Neil says and smiles

" Thank you" Avni smiles back

They stand up and leave,leaving behind a smiling Dr. Mallika wishing the best for the young couple who just left her office.

" I was thinking that we should go to Neela Maa's house" Neil tells Avni

" that's what I was just about to say" she smiles and Neil starts the car 

They pull into Neela's driveway and Neil helps Avni get down the car. He knocks on the door and Neela opens the door and immediately adorns a smile as she sees them

" Neil, Avni!"  

" Good morning Maa" Avneil say

" Good morning and why are you both standing there, come in. Or have you already forgotten you lived here before Avni" Neela teases

" Maa stop it" Avni groans and pouts making Neela giggle

" Ok fine" Neela says

" Maa I'm hungry, Please feed me" Neil says to Neela

" What, you just finished eating not less than two hours ago" Avni protests

" Avni leave Neil alone, let him eat whatever he wants" Neela tells Avni

" But Maa-" Avni says and was cut off by Neil

" Thank you Maa" Neil says and smirks at Avni

  Neela goes to the kitchen and stops at the door to turn back and admire the both of them arguing and smiles knowing that her daughter is finally forgetting her past.

Neela comes back with food and keeps them on the table and everyone digs in. Neela sits there looking at both of them stealing glances at each other and keeps wondering if they even notice she's there. She breaks the silence

" So what happened that you two suddenly remembered me today" Neela teases

" No maa, what are you saying. We really wanted to visit you" Neil says

" I know, I know i was just joking" Neela smiles

" Maa do you I'm going to resume work " Avni tells Neela

" Really? why but you've not healed yet" Neela says

" I know, I know but let me explain everything to you" Avni chuckles at Neela's shocked face

Avni explains to Neela and then asks Neil to help her take her things from her room while she clears the plates.  Neela offers to help and proceeds to Avni's room with Neil.

Neela and Neil arrange everything in boxes and then take them all down to the car, " I've seen the both of you Neil" Neela says and turns to Neil who's dropping some boxes in the car.

" You can't hide anything from me" Neela says and Neil looks at her 

" You love her, don't you" Neela says to Neil who looks intently at Avni coming outside. He pauses and then 

" You have no idea" He says and Neela smiles

Hi guys, one of the worst things that could ever happen to you when you're writing just happened to me, having a chapter you wrote get deleted. Luckily I could remember everything (well almost).
