How I hated Wednesdays and every single thing about them. Yeah, it was indeed the middle of a possibly dreadful week but I despised it. Nothing ever came out of Wednesdays that was good. It was a Wednesday when my parents divorced and my pet fish died. It was also a Wednesday when my ex-boyfriend cheated on me and it rained on my freshly dyed hair, staining my white jean jacket with blue hair dye.
To make a long story short, today was Wednesday and something horrible was bound to happen.
I walked into Chemistry and took my usual seat which happened to be next to my best friend, Ryan. She was dressed in black jeans with a tank top to match. I wore ripped jeans with tights underneath and a olive green hoodie, our school didn't care too much about dress code. We were only here to learn, they could care less if we turned school into our own personal fashion show.
Ms. Evergreen walked in, a huge smile plastered on her wrinkly face as she pushed her glasses up her nose. A smile that big meant only one thing, we had a project. I can tell how she held her clipboard tight within her grasp that we had assigned partners. I internally groaned and hoped that she picked by random and not alphabetical order, I was bound to be stuck with the school's biggest asshole.
Lauren Jauregui.
As she announced what I already expected, she started calling off partner names.
"Irons..." she paused, taking a moment to clear her throat, "Hamilton and Jauregui." She continued, silently saying that we needed to go by our partner or they come to you.
I never understood why we did projects in trios that were assigned and why she wouldn't let us pick. It's not like Ryan and I joke around that often, we're still passing her class. Lauren finally caught on that we weren't moving so she dragged her stool across the room and placed it at the end of the long and shiny black tables. She plopped down onto it and smirked, nodding at Ryan who was too engrossed into her phone to acknowledge her existence.
"So, you're stuck with me again." She cheered and leaned over, popping my bubble as I caught a whiff of the spearmint gum she chewed.
"Unfortunately," I hissed and rolled my eyes, gently pushing her body away from mine, "personal space, didn't your mama ever teach you about that?" I questioned before angrily flipping open to a fresh page in my notebook.
"You smell good. Is the perfume you're wearing vanilla scented? It's intoxicating." She mumbled loud enough for me to hear, completely disregarding my prior question.
Great, one of my partners had the attention span of a fish and the other had the douche bag ways of a dude.
"Let's just focus on this project, yeah?" I spoke before writing down my name, Ryan then hers on the clean page in black ink.
"Well, I was thinking we do some chemistry in your bed." She teased, wiggling her perfectly done eyebrows.
Ryan looked up with wide eyes, stifling the laugh I knew she was bound to release. She found Lauren's constant flirting funny and sweet when she sometimes said the right things. I wouldn't give her a chance, never.
"If you're referring to biology you failed horribly babes. Try that pickup line with someone else because you'll never have a chance with me."
