"Y/N." He says with a hopeful smile. "Please tell me. Tell me that you still love me?"
*ONE YEAR AGO*
I was running. Running from what I knew that was going to brainwash me back to a blank slate. I needed to get away from them. People. Zipping through them like a gust of wind. All I could remember saying to myself; get away from them. get to a safe haven. But where? Lost in my own thoughts, I had abruptly bumped into a tall stranger. I fell down and looked up at him with a confused face. The man helped me up. "Whoa. Are you okay?" He asked. "You look like you were running for awhile."
The man was tall. His smile had a charming feel to it. Dimples not exactly on the hollows of his cheeks. His eyes meeting with mine. Concerned, even with the smile. "Y-Yeah. I'm fine." I replied as I got up and dusted myself off.
"You sure? Doesn't seem like it." The man said, putting a hand on my shoulder. "Here, come with me. I'll get you a drink. Coffee. You look like you've been through a lot."
I have. But I just met this man. Should I just walk with him? Maybe they'll pass me by if I casually walk along.
"Okay." I replied with caution. I started walking.
We started walking towards a cafe around the corner. He opened the door and let me go in first. I stepped inside and the man followed. We waited in line and we looked at the menu. "So, what's your name? My name is Jung Hoseok. But you can call me Hobi if you want to." Hoseok said. I didn't reply to his self-introduction. "Hello? Am I talking to anybody?" Hoseok waved his hand in front of my face. "Y/N. Kim Y/N." I said shyly.
"So, what do you want?" Hoseok asked.
"What?" I asked.
"Your drink." He replied. He guided my eyes to the menu.
"O-Oh. I'll just have a hot matcha latte, thanks." I answered.
We moved up the line until it was our turn to order. He ordered and payed for our drinks. He ordered a dark chocolate frappe. We took our drinks and sat down at a table away from most of the people in the cafe. "So." He cleared his throat. "How long were you running back there?"
"I don't know. A couple of minutes maybe." I replied.
"Why? You seem in perfect shape and your face had a very concerned appearance." He asked. "Were you running from something?"
"I don't feel comfortable speaking about this with a stranger." I said.
"That's okay. I understand." He said with an understanding tone. "I just hope it's nothing serious." He looked like he knew that what I was doing. His eyes tracked my every movement. But somehow, it seemed comforting.
It was something serious. But I can't trust him that much to tell him why I was running.
I didn't answer him.
"Well, at least tell me you have a plan after this." Hoseok said. He took another sip of his dark chocolate frappe.
I stayed speechless.
"I see." he stated. "You're running from something." His eyes went from tracing my every move, to having a focus only on my eyes. "Okay. Again, you don't have to say anything. I want to help you."
He seemed so calm, yet, serious. I looked at him, dumbfounded, wondering why would a stranger help me. There must be some sort of catch.
"What's the catch?" I asked smartly.
"No catch." He replied. "Just let me help you. I have some friends that can help too."
His phone buzzed.
Big Boss: hey hobi-ah. where you at? the meeting is about to start.
Hoseok: sorry hyung. I just bumped into some traffic on the way to the complex. omw now.
Big Boss: hurry
"I totally forgot, Y/N." He said as he stood up. "I had something to do. Come with me. I bet you have nothing else to do."
He was right. But how? How was he right? How did he know I was running? How did he know that I needed help? They must've given up by now and stopped searching for me right?
We walked out of the cafe.
