"It's not fair that Joffrey gets to ride when he doesn't even want to," you grumbled under your breath.

"Your brother will be the King; he needs to look strong." You scoffed again, turning slightly in your seat to look your father in the eye.

"Joffrey would not look strong if his enemy was a babe," you started. "Honestly Father, it's not like the Starks will care if I ride."

"I care, and that;s the end of the matter. Now, off to bed with you," he told you and you frowned again.

"But it's still light out," you started and he held up a hand to silence you.

"It is. But you're bothering me and I'm your father and you must do as I say," he chuckled and you growled deep in your throat as you got to your feet, giving him an exaggerated bow and rolling your eyes at him before escaping to your chambers.

*Time Skip*

You had been pretending to be asleep for almost an hour when you felt your mother's hand shake your shoulder. "We're almost there, Sweetling. It's time to wake up," she uttered softly and you smiled as you opened your eyes with a faux yawn, rubbing your eyes lightly. "Did you not sleep well last night?" she asked you, her hand still resting on your arm.

"The bed was uncomfortable," you lied, giving her a small shrug and turning to attempt to look out the small window beside you. You could see no more than a couple of inches of the countryside at a time, and it was less interesting in the North, where everything was covered in thick layers of snow.

"Is something the matter, (Y/N)?" she asked again and you let out a deep sigh before turning back to look at her.

"I don't understand why I can't ride with uncle Jaime, it's not like I would be in any danger if he were with me," you muttered and her face softened at your words.

"It's not ladylike to ride with the men, you know that," she told you and you let out a groan from deep within your chest.

"I don't care about being ladylike," you huffed and she let out a chuckle that you hadn't been expecting.

"You've made that very clear over the years, Y/N. It's no longer a shock when you say it," she answered your unasked question causing you to huff again. "You can ride with the men when you're married, but until then you'll travel with us in the litter," she added.

"But I don't want to marry anyone," you grumbled and she shrugged at you.

"Then it seems that you will be travelling with us for a very long time then."

A knock on the door of the litter cut off whatever you had planned to say and it quickly swung open, revealing the Stark family all smiling in a line. You scoffed before getting up and passing your mother, ignoring the hand that your uncle Jaime offered you and climbing down the steps unaided. You watched on as your father was helped from his horse, marching his way over to Lord Stark and stopping abruptly before him as the man fell to his knees, copied by his family.

"Are you behaving yourself, Y/N?" your uncle Tyrion muttered beside you, bringing a smile to your lips as you let your eyes linger over the Stark children.

"Aren't I always?" you muttered back and you heard him let out a small chuckle before forcing it back down into his chest. "I'm doing my best given the circumstances," you added softly and he nodded at you.

"Good, if you need anything you know where I'll be, I assume?" he asked and you reciprocated the nod.

"I wouldn't dare come to find you there; Gods know what I'd find you doing," you teased and he muffled his laughter.
