Chapter 18: Vengeance

Start from the beginning

He stood up with a smirk as fire surrounded his wound "Stupid boy, Riser is immortal" he laughed confidently as if his fear from a moment ago was nothing but a dream, but I was about to turn it into a Night terror

His laugh died down as he fell on his knee's and held his wound, his arms trembling as it didn't heal "W-what?! Riser doesn't understand! Why?!" he yelled

I walked towards him slowly, each step sounding ominous, dangerous. It was as if his end was coming slowly towards him, and he could only watch in fear and confusion.

"You're not immortal. You have fast regeneration thanks to magic, that's all" I said briefly "While my eyes need time to dispel complex magic like your regeneration, or something from the Necronomicon, there is one thing that has an edge on your regeneration" I said as I shouldered my hammer

"H-huh?! What?!" he asked, curious to what was causing him such pain, something he hasn't felt in his entire life, always regenerating before he could feel any. This experience was new and frightening to him, never before had he met a being that could do actual damage to him, a being that surpassed him in every way, a being of absolute power

His mind and ears were glued to every word spoken as if he was hypnotized to listen to them "Your regeneration is demonic in nature, and what force is opposite to it?' I asked him

"H-Holy power!!!" he said as he trembled

"That's right. You forgot that I'm half angel, and my remnants are also holy or demonic in nature. Right now your regeneration is keeping you alive and conscious even though I broke your ribs and ruptured some organs with that hit, not a bad hit if I do say so myself" I said proudly

He looked down to his abdomen and watched as the light was in his wound as fire engulfed it continuously. He had no words left, nor the strength to stand much less run. He was beaten soundly, him and his peerage and he knew this but didn't want to accept he lost to a hybrid

"And now to finish you off" I placed the head of the hammer on his head gently, aiming it. I brought the hammer behind me, readying myself for an overhead swing, it would be like chopping a log in half with an ax.

The hammer started to glow white, I was putting as much holy power into it as possible to kill him in one blow. If he could see behind my mask he would be able to see my cold dead eyes. He knew that killing everyone close to me was the worst mistake of his life, after all, there's nothing more dangerous than facing a man who has nothing to lose

I started bringing my hammer down, wanting this to be over and go to my next target as quickly as possible. However.......

"WAIT!!!" Ravel jumped in the way with her arms out in a protective way, tears in the corners of her eyes. Images and memories of Alison rushed through my mind like a river, I remembered her smile, her laugh, everything that she had done for me. I remembered the day I rescued her and some of the children, I knew the pain she went through, though she never once cried, never shed even a single tear. She was strong, stronger then I'll ever be, and I missed her, I missed everything she did. I missed her laughter, I missed her cooking, I missed her angry expression, I missed her being mad at me, I missed her and I reading bedtime stories to the kids, I missed her teaching the kids about music, I missed her playing around with everyone, I missed my best friend in the world. I missed her smile. The smile I loved to see. The one I'd give anything to get back

My hammer stopped a few milometers from Ravel's face. I asked in a voice that was almost a whisper ".......Why do you have to look like her?"

She stared at me in confusion and fear. She didn't have the voice to speak, she didn't know what to say, but the memory of me telling her she looked like someone I know appeared in her mind

"Why do you protect him?" my voice still at the same volume, she gulped and looked at me with an expression I couldn't describe, one full of fear, confidence, joy, sadness, love, and hate. It was something I had never seen before

"Because he's my brother. He's family, and I won't stand by and watch him get killed." her voice was cracking, she was trembling, and I'm not surprised. But what she said was exactly the same as what Alison had once said

"You even sound like her" I muttered sadly, she watched me carefully, examining my every move, because her life may actually depend on it

I moved my hammer back, holding it with my normal hand. I reached out towards her with my left arm and she, on instinct, closed her eyes and waited for some kind of a pain to come. But she opened her eyes in surprise. She felt no pain, she instead found me patting her head. Her expression was one of someone who could not comprehend what was happening.

My mask disappeared into thin air, allowing her to see my face, and I was smiling. Her cheeks were tinted pink as she stared at my warm smile as I continued to pat her

"I promise I won't kill your brother. You have my word" I said as I moved my hand down to her cheek, her face turning red "But, only if you give up and forfeit. Will you do it?" I asked

She didn't have the words to describe how she felt as she looked into my glowing red eyes, nor did she have the words to answer my question, so instead she simply nodded and slowly disappeared

"One of Risers bishops, Retired"

This left Riser and me in an empty battlefield. I dropped my hammer and it disappeared in the wind. I deactivated my eyes as I stared down at the noble devil. He looked like he was about to break, I felt pity for him, and I was going to keep my promise of not killing him, but my hatred and rage could not be put into words, only actions could describe them

He looked up at me, knowing that I wasn't done with him.

"You took everything away from me. My home and my family, but despite that, you're going to live, however, it shall be a painful existence, I hope you can understand" I said as my arm started to glow

He looked down, accepting his fate. He knew what he had done, and for once was actually regretting it, feeling sorry and guilty. I could see how this battle had changed this man, but it wouldn't stop me.

My arm transformed, my fingers had points, like little spears. I plunged them into the right side of the nobles chest. He yelled and screamed in agony and I soon pulled them out, my hand covered in his blood. He held his chest as he fell to the ground, still yelling in pain

"I directly injected you with holy power, I avoided your heart so you'll live. but that holy power will keep burning you alive from the inside, as your regeneration will keep you alive" I said and started walking away "But don't worry, it'll only last a few months at most. I can't continuously generate it in your body, but this should do. I hope you've learned what you've done and I thank you for being so cooperative......" a portal opened in front of me, I knew Damian made it so I walked through without hesitation as if it were planned. As I made it to the other side I looked back at him to see him looking at me with saddened eyes. As the portal was nearly fully closed I spoke again "......Goodbye, Lord Riser Phoenix"

A/n: Holy/Demonic crap that was a long chapter for me, and its been forever since I've updated (That's why I made the long chapter, also cause I wanted to get this part out of the way). You've taken revenge on one person, putting him through the torture that won't be ending anytime soon. Now onto the next target, Sirzech.......But that's for another chapter. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Until next time. Bye!!!
