"He sure told you off didn't he?" Orion says from behind me with a laugh. Others around us begin to laugh a little as well, lightening the mood significantly.
"He sure did," I say with a laugh of my own, and fiery red cheeks.
A few hours later, I begin to hear a string of happy profanities coming from Dax. I quickly walk over and see that the sick Wolf has some color returning to his features. It seems that Dax has finally cracked the spell, though he is on his knees breathing hard, but that doesn't stop him as he continues his moment of victory. I see him gather up more energy and before I know it he is on his feet again.
"Be careful Daxera," Irelia starts, "don't strain yourself too hard. Using a lot of Magical energy can be hard on your body, even if you are a Wolf," she warns him.
"I'm ok, I've got this," he says as he moves to stand in front of a line of beds along the wall. He starches out his hands extending his tendrils of Magic but instead of ten, there are six sets of ten tendrils that appear. Each set moves to a different Wolf then they seep into their heads.
"Daxera, no! That is too much energy you are expelling all at once!" Irelia says frantically. This is the first time I've ever seen her freak out.
"I know what I'm doing," he states sternly. "The Witch who did this is no match for me, I have figured out how it works and how to undo the Magic. It won't be long before I eradicate it."
As he says the last sentence, his voice changes a little. I walk in front of him to look at his eyes and see that the green and the blue of his eyes and purple from his Wolf eyes are swirling around in the area where the colors met. They aren't mixing to make another color, it just looks like the colors are dancing with each other. Even the silver ring in their eyes becomes a brighter ring around the outside of his irises and purples.
I don't know what the swirling colors in his eyes mean, but all I can do anyway is watch him work to free our pack members from the grips of the virus Magic. I can't stop him from using so much energy and I know that, later, it wIll take its toll on him.
"What will happen if he keeps using and gathering his energy like this?" I ask Irelia as we watch Dax.
"He will become week and his body will need rest so he'll probably sleep for about four days straight. My healers can help his body recover faster if you want," she offers.
"That will be an inevitable outcome because there is no way I can get him to stop," I admit slightly annoyed at Dax though I am really proud of him.
"He's even sparked a new fire under the asses of the other Witches, figuratively speaking of course," Orion says from beside me. I look around and see a more intense look their faces then they had before.
"Scratch what I said before, during our meeting. I don't think we'll be great friends and allies; I know we are destined to be," she says with emphasis on the word destined. She sighs. "I might as well help too. Being outdone by such a novice," she scoffs and I chuckle. "That will just not do."
Irelia stands in front of several beds like Dax, then she extends her tendrils out and connects them to eight different pack members.
"Irelia!" Hayden gasps from behind me. "What are you-" she cuts him off.
"I can handle this better then Daxera can. The fewer Wolves he has to heal on his own, the less time he needs to recover," Irelia says as she focuses on her task.
"Alright, I will send a tendril to everyone and give you all the knowledge of how to dismantle the spell," Dax says one of his tendrils splits off and heads toward the helping Witches. "Remember though, just because you know what to do, won't mean it will be easy."
