Chapter 7: My Past With The Sun Warriors

Start from the beginning

“Boys what’s wrong?” I heard another voice ask.

“There’s a scary monster about to eat a little girl,” one of them said tearfully making me laugh and struggle to sit up.

“Ran’s not going to eat me she’s my dragon,” I said laughing.

“Come with me,” the woman with the little boys in her skirt said.

I followed her willingly though I had to lean on Ran to walk. In the time since I left it’s been a month, and we haven’t found much food for Ran let alone me. Since Ran’s a dragon though she can go longer without food, and it’s not physically affecting her much. Finally the woman stopped in front of a man.

“Who do we have here?” he asked sounding genuinely interested.

“I am the Crown Princess of the Fire Nation Siria, daughter of Lord Ayrin, and niece to Fire-Lord Sozin. I have been searching for the Sun Warriors for a month to ask you to hide my dragon Ran, my uncle and father are planning to slaughter the dragons, and I know how much you respect the dragons. I was hoping that you’d take Ran and protect her like I can’t,” I answered before I fainted.

When I awoke I was in a room and Ran was poking her head through the window. I smiled and started to get up to go and pet her when a hand pushed me back down. Getting ready to fight I noticed that it was the woman who had brought me here and that I was very weak. She passed me a cup and motioned for me to drink as I did strength flowed into my veins.

“Thank you um…”

“Rika I’m Avatar Roku’s daughter, and I’m betrothed to the Sun Warriors chief Adein” she said it was only then that I noticed how young she looked.

“Thank you for your help”

“No problem, but why is such a young child on the verge of death?”

“I needed to save Ran nothing else mattered and the only people who could help me were the Sun Warriors. I’ve been searching for you for a month now to save Ran’s life for me,” I answered.

“Rika is she awake yet,” I heard someone call in.

“Yes Adein you can come in and see her yourself if you’d like,” Rika responded.

“Thank you for helping me. I know that I might be related to Sozin, but when I inherit the throne I will change everything,” I told him before he could say anything.

“No thank you child. You’re so young, but you risked your life in order to save that of your dragon. I would like to give this to you my people will know that you are blessed by the chief himself, and if you ever want to see Ran you may. I’m giving you this because from your statement I take it that you don’t plan to stay do you?” Adein handed over a gorgeous yellow bracelet connected as if they were entangling dragons.

“No. With what Sozin is doing and since he chose to name me heir above any children he has I must act like I don’t care until I become Fire-Lord and then everything will be perfect. One day I pray that Ran can roam free in the skies of the Fire Nation again without me fearing she will be killed. Thank you for your gift and your promise to save Ran.”

                End of Flashback:

Suddenly out of nowhere I was surrounded by the Sun Warriors lead by Ursa herself. Ignoring them I called Ran through our mind link and rejoiced when I heard a roar from the mountains. The warriors were looking at me scared probably that I’d hurt Ran when a blue dragon flew out with her and both circled in front of me before they landed. As soon as she was on the ground Ran began to nuzzle me.

“Master Ran get away from this person she might hurt you,” a man dressed in the chiefs clothing said it was Adein I thought he’d be dead.

“Adein really out of all people you should recognize me since I haven’t changed a bit,” I said laughing at him.

“Princess Siria, but you’re supposed to be dead!” he exclaimed.

”No I came here to ask about Yue and what she truly was. I ask this favor in return for me helping you save the dragons. I see I was right about Ursa being your daughter Zuko is heartbroken over her disappearance.”

“How did you? Never mind you always were very perceptive, I can’t believe you haven’t changed a bit in a hundred years,” he told me laughing.

“Well I guess being the Avatar’s twin sister might explain it which is why I need to know about Yue. Somehow I was transported ninety-five years into the future when my birthmarks glowed. Please Adein I must now,” I begged him.

“Alright but it will have to be tonight. Yue’s monument can only be reached in the dark,” he answered me. “Until then you can rest in your old room.” I followed him to the room I had stayed in so many years ago and fell asleep the instant my head hit the pillow.
