On my way to class, I felt my phone buzz in my jacket pocket as I reached down to grab it, bringing it up into view. There was a message from Hayden.

Hayden: hey, the guys are comin over tonight if u and drey wanna swing by

I instantly smiled and typed back a reply.

Me: Sure, not positive if I'll be able to drag Drey along but I'll be there.

And suddenly, my mood brightened up as I continued the walk to class. As usual, I was one of the first few to arrive so I took the seat in which I always sat in, and placed my head in my hands on the desk as I always did. I figured I'd ask Xander when he arrived if he'd be going to Hayden's tonight, only to bring up a topic that wouldn't make us feel particularly awkward.

I closed my eyes for a few minutes until I heard the professor walk in, and picked up my head, looking to the side. But Xander wasn't there.

It was odd. He was never late to class.

I decided to push the thoughts out of my mind. Perhaps he was running late because of Hadlee, or maybe his rotten sister needed a ride to campus.

The professor continued his lecture while I, unsurprisingly, didn't listen to a damn word he said. Xander was yet to show up. And he'd never missed a class. When class ended, I thought of giving him a call, but decided it would look as if I was worried about him when I certainly wasn't. And of course, that's exactly what he'd think.

Once again, I dismissed the worthless thoughts and excitedly directed my attention back to the fact that I'd be seeing Hayden tonight.

The hours dragged on and I was anxious to see Hayden. Maybe he'd possibly take my useless mind off of Xander for a while.

The night was dark by the time I finally made it back to my dorm, and I realized I had no way of transportation to Hayden's. I knew Drey didn't have a car; there'd be no point for him since he was cooped up in the dorm or the library all day.

I groaned and dropped my backpack on the ground. I couldn't ask Hayden for a ride because the guys were probably already there.

"What's wrong?" I heard Drey ask from his desk.

I sighed. "I'm supposed to be going over to Hayden's now but I've got no way of getting there."

"Well, jeez. I'd offer to take you but I don't have a car myself," Drey replied, scratching his head.

"You'd do that for me?" I asked and grinned playfully at my roommate. "I thought you wouldn't have the time."

"Shut up," he said and turned away. "I'd make some for you."

I grinned wider and walked over to him, ruffling his hair. "I knew there was more to you than just a nerd. You've actually got a heart."

Drey swatted his hand at mine before replying. "You'll never see it again if you act like this," he said. "But really, just ask Xander for a ride. I'm sure he's going."

"No," I said quickly.

"Still embarrassed after making out with the rude bastard, eh? That tells me only one thing," he said and held up one finger, leaning in close. "You've got the hots for-"

I instantly stepped away from Drey and grabbed my pillow off of my bed, raising it in the air. Drey covered his face with his hands and stopped talking.

"What're you doing? I'm fixing my bed," I said and placed my pillow back down, patting at it.

Drey's arms lowered and he glared at me. "Asshole."

I laughed and walked back over to him.

"Should I really do it?" I asked.

"Do what?" he asked.

"Ask Xander for a ride," I replied.

"That's the only way you're going to get to Hayden," he said, shrugging.

I groaned and pulled out my phone from my pocket, wretchedly typing out a text to Xander.

Me: Mind giving me a ride to Hayden's ?
