CHAPTER 5:

(Delaney's POV)

"Alright, so tomorrow will be our first day off book! Whose excited?" Brendan asked. Jay rolled his eyes beside him.

Every one let out a fake enthusiastic 'yay' to satisfy him. Matt snorted beside me and I nudged his side. He elbowed me right back. I stuck my tongue out at him and he did the same.

I watched as Nash grimaced across the table from us. His jaw clenched and his eyes seemed to burn into my skull.

What is his problem?

It's been a week since that day he drove me home and met Christian, and he has barely spoken to me since.

I thought our little time together would help ease the hurt and uneasy tension between us, but I stand corrected. All it does is make those feelings for him spring back up like wells.. Exactly what I feared would happen.

I focused my attention away from him, and back to Brendan, who was still rambling on about being psyched for off-book.

"Alright Brendan, I think they get the point.." Jay rolled his eyes and we all suppressed a laugh.

I've grown quite fond of Jay. He's an extremely laid back man, and he's like my father figure here. He genuinely cares about us all. He was much more respectful to the minor parts, who started attending rehearsals earlier this week, than Brendan was. He lived by the motto "There are no small parts; Only small actors."

"Way to ruin my speech." Brendan joked. "Anyways, have a lovely evening; don't party too hard on the first night of summer. See you all tomorrow."

With that he collected his things and started to leave, signifying that everyone else could do the same.

As I gathered my things, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to see Trenton smiling at me.

"Hey Laney." He gave me his award winning smile.

"Hey Trent, what's up?"

"So this Saturday is my 20th birthday, and I'm throwing a party for the cast and my friends at my place. I totally forgot to give it to you earlier this week."

"That's totally fine. I can't wait!" I beamed as he handed me an electric blue envelope, most likely containing an invitation.

"So you'll come?" He asked, giving me a sly smile.

"Are you kidding? Of-"

"Yeah we'll both be there. It'll be fun." That annoyingly adorable southern accent sounded behind me. I felt a hand pressed against my lower back. "Oh and I wouldn't try flirting with her.. She doesn't go for the younger men."

I turned around angrily as Trent's cheeks blushed against his light brown skin.

"Nash, can you just shut up for once? He's literally a year and a half younger than you. Don't be a prick cause I give him more attention than I do to you. Not my fault if he actually knows how to treat a girl."

"Damn son. Shots fired." I heard Matt laugh as he slung an arm around my shoulders.

Nash just kind of stood there with his mouth hanging open, while Trent suppressed a laugh. I felt quite proud of myself for the comeback, and for defending Trent.

He opened his mouth to retaliate, but quickly shut it when I raised my eyebrow at him.

"I'll see you tomorrow Lane.." He said in a small voice. He picked up his things and made a quick exit.

"I'm sorry about him.." I said sheepishly.

"Hey, don't sweat it. Ex's can sometimes be crazy.. Especially when they are still crazy for you." Trent nudged me and smirked.
